Whoever created the poll in the first place probably thought it was a good idea at the time because it would garner attention and readers and steer people in the direction of reading about the Uganda issue (a country most Westerners don't care about). That person probably fell in love with his/her idea too much that he/she didn't assess how polarizing a topic like homosexuality is (and how few Westerners care about Uganda). Perhaps he/she can do that with some boring political legislation because a lot of people will be apathetic, but almost everyone has an opinion about homosexuality.
