As I mentioned above, I ordered the seventh series from Amazon.co.uk and finished watching it yesterday. It was good, although a lot of the characters have been lost over the seven series.

I particularly liked the Mexican standoff ending.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle the eighth series; there are only three Gallagher children left.

Although it will never be as good as the early seasons written by its creator, Paul Abbott, Shameless remains one of the best UK produced TV dramas around. Yes, some great characters have gone and sometimes it can seem like the explicit sex and drug scenes are only there for controversy's sake. But other strong characters have emerged (Karen is particularly good this season) and it remains the gayest show on TV! And the portrayal of strong, working class, non-effete gay men on prime time TV can only be a good thing. I hope this show runs and runs. The only character it cannot afford to lose is Frank Gallagher.

Shameless is just so British I can't see how that could work.

The whole set-up is totally dependent on the uniquely British class , benefits and social work system, the pub, the housing estate, even the drug culture. It would have to be completely rewritten.

Not really isn't there welfare of sorts in the states? Are there not projects, highrises apparments, hell you could set it in Baltimore and it would work you just have to make it American in a way that the US audience understands the points it is making as some elements are universal, having no money, drink, drug problems so it just needs the right ppl to convert it over.

Your right as now the series is over and I've watch every episode. Kelly and Shane stood out what an Episode they had regarding children I loved it. Also couldn't stop laughing at Mimi when she realised all her kids were actual Bastards lol.

That sort of didn't make sense to me. If a man and woman believed they got married, had all the right paperwork, and lived as a married couple all that time, wouldn't the law consider them married whether or not the priest was legitimate?

And when Carl and Liam were being threatened, I liked how Shane took charge even though his father refused to get involved.

We have pretty much everything here that you have there. We just call them by different names.

Still, there are people over here who have trouble with (as Gaz1978 mentioned earlier) Hugh Grant's Queen's English. They're completely lost with Cockney. I know one young lady who couldn't even watch AYBS? because she couldn't understand the cast.

I've had naughty thoughts about Lip, Carl, Jamie, Joe and Kev before today.

Jody Latham (who plays Lip) was originally going to play Ian. GOD I wish that had happened. He is so fucking sexy and I would have loved to see him in all the sex scenes Ian has had over the years. Gerard Kearns doesn't do anything for me at all.

its about the life of a poor family in this really bad area in britian. Basically about the characters doing drugs, having sex, and committing crimes lol. It is both funny and dramatic at the same time one of the best series I have ever seen and I've seen way to much TV.

As another JUBBER will attest, I find Dean Lennox Kelly (Kev Ball) AMAZINGLY HOT and the fact that he went completely nude in the first episode of first series of Shameless completely hooked me!
