I think it's gotten better since the beginning.

like i've said before I enjoy that they are putting their own twist on the story lines from the UK version and then adding in their own plots as well....it's what's going to make it a lasting show.

on another note, I just finished the 2nd series of the UK version....love it
 
Liked the last few episode, I love the relationship between the gay son and the "bully" or whatever you want to call him.

This whole Jimmy/Steve thing might blow up...it seems kind of dumb, but we will have to wait and see how it plays out.

I'm lovin the son and the bully too. Wish they'd flesh-out that relationship a bit more (pun intended).
 
I just wish they would get in the shower together so the bully would wash the dirt off his face....haha

and can we just talk about how I love the young actress that plays Debbie....she's fantastic on this show...also I've always been an Emmy Rossum fan but she's really shining in this role I think.
 
I wanna like this show but I find it a little homophobic. There's so much nudity and graphic sex from all the straight characters. But the gay kid hasnt even kissed on camera. All of his "sex" scenes are the sounds of panting behind closed doors.

I noticed that too. And I mean, it's SHOWTIME so why can't they show it? They have no excuse.

Also, am I the only one who fast forwards through all the Frank scenes? Especially when he has his own side storyline? He may be the character I loathe the most on TV right now.

I guess they have the no nudity from Ian b/c the actor who plays him is only 17. But that still doesnt excuse him not kissing. Underage teen actors kiss adult actors all the time.

BtW I skip all the Frank scenes too. I was just saying to my roommate that he shouldnt even be there. And tbh besides the sex scenes, Fiona and Steve can be a bit tiresome. They are so hot together though. i even find Emmy hot. But Justin Chatwin is a revelation. Definitely not my type. But he's so sexy in this. My favorite couple is Kev n Veronica. I don't really dislike anyone except Frank. But honestly the littlest sister can get annoying. She gets way too much camera time imo.

Remember the episode where they faked Frank's death/funeral? Frank came in and told his kids, "Show of hands, how many of you have wanted to see me dead?"

The actor who plays Ian is only 17 years old. If his sex scenes were as graphic as the other ones, then someone could come along and accuse the show of doing child porn. Will have to wait and see if his sex scenes are more graphic next season when he is legally of age.
 
I'm guessing the reason for his sex scenes being less then other ones on the show is cause he's 17...on the UK one the sex scenes for that Ian were the same till season 2 or 3 where they showed a bit more....I wouldn't go so far as to say it's homophobic though aijalon...I think Ian is a great gay character, one that isn't present on TV thus far...but also the character is still developing...it is only the first season.

No he kissed Kash in the 3rd episode.

And I also disagree, all 3 of the gay characters on this show are pretty normal imo compared to most other shows.

The finale was pretty good imo. Looking forward to next season.

If you're talking about when Kash brought him to his house. They didnt kiss. They separated from an implied kiss. There was no actual kiss.

Characterwise I think they are really good. But I think the lack of physicality, when there is so much from all the sexually active straight characters is unfair.

The third episode at 6:25, they go out into an alley and kiss behind a truck, then Ian walks off and runs into Mandy.
 
Damn just found out about this show. I love how ian is non-feminine. It walks off the stereotype that you see in Glee and all of those types of shows.

Yes Ian (cameron monaghan is his real name) said he doubts that he will do any full frontal scenes. However we can expect to see more about him and his relationships. I would expect to also since he is only 17 in real life now. He turns 18 in august.

The second season is not expected until 2012, we don't know if that's early or late 2012 yet....

Damn can't wait that long.
 
^ Jeez! That's too long of a wait, but if it means for an entertaining and well-written season then all the more power to them for taking their time.
 
If you enjoyed the Showtime version of this show, I recommend trying to see the UK original. The first season is available via Netflix. I saw parts of the first season on BBC America (this was in 2005 or so) and liked it so much that I've continued to follow it by buying each season from Amazon.co.uk as it's released. They're now in the eighth season. The accents and slang can be a little difficult to penetrate, but the subtitles help.
 
yeah I'm on the middle of the 3rd season of the UK version now...I love both of the versions...I feel like they are completely different shows that just happen to follow some of the same story lines

I actually really like William H. Macy's portrayal. He's doing a great job and I really like the show. I'll probably try to catch the UK version even though there's some overlap because UK series and movies tend to be better than what we produce in the US. I agree about Emmy and Justin (I really enjoy his ass lol).
 
LOVE this show, but I can't stand Frank and I Fast Forward through any of his scenes that don't involve the other kids.
 
Just a little heads up, today is Cameron Monaghan's 18th birthday. On August 12th, they were filming episode 5 of season 2.

So anything from episode 6 and on we can post the pictures of him since he will have been 18!!! :D

Also, season 2 premieres January 8th!
