I agree with the Datalounge thread that cited "bitches" as a dated term, and indicative of yesteryear, so appropriate to the 1984 vehicle.

I think it was part of gay culture when gay culture was branded as one thing, a catty, flamboyant, diva-tized persona that was only a shake from drag queen drama. Thankfully, that doesn't describe gays as a population.

Mind you, it never did, but there wasn't any voice for those who didn't line up behind it 20 years ago. Joe Average doesn't really work as a trope.
