"Share" tab

It's a bit bothersome for me on my old laptop with a small screen. However, seeing that I contribute nothing towards the financial stability of this site, I guess I really shouldn't complain.

I still don't understand why so many need to share every sodding thing they do at any given moment.

zomg look at this thread - zomg my dog just sneezed - zomg just kill me already

we'll figure out a better way to do it. Its become a cost of doing business online though. Google now uses social engagement in their search engine algorithm. They monitor what is being shared from websites, how many likes and +1's and all that good stuff sites get. Sites that get talked about in social networking get preferential treatment in organic search engine listings. So if we don't give you guys tools to tweet or like us, then we are become irrelevant .... literally. I do miss the good 'ole days too.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure how this will work.

Were I to have twitter, facebook, google+, I doubt I'd be sharing anything originating from a porn site - forums or not.

Tumblr, on the other hand, may be beneficial in driving traffic to the site. However, seeing that most tumblr users are <=16 years-old, it may be asking for trouble.

^ I thought the same. Then I learned that even on sites like xtube the "share" buttons are used. Don't ask me why ..

There are even share/Facebook buttons on "piracy" websites.

Quoth he, "Wondrous fair", yet "NOT!"

Make it a button on the right-hand end of the forum title line -- like up at the top here, it says "Tech Talk" and has the forum description, then there's a bunch of empty space. Add a little button down under "Report Post" and "Code of Conduct", next to the icon for making a comment.

But leave it floating like that with no option to turn it off, and I'll be heading for the Firefox forums to ask if there's any add-on that will make it go away.

On second thought, on the porn side of the board, make the icon an erection that wiggles every now and then, and just floats along suggesting "Share me!"

My first thought was to put it on the other side of the screen or along the bottom so it didn't cover any important information or buttons like the 'First New Post' arrows.

Just a thought.

Yeah.......the LAST thing I need is to accidentally hit some SHARE button and have JUB popping up all over creation....... #-o

The nature of social networking means that Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc will always be pretty insignificant tools for porn sites to utilise from a marketing perspective. The problem being that viewing porn is seen as a private activity, and one which isn't normally discussed in the company of friends and relatives - hell, there are many members who aren't even out to their friends and family, so they're certainly not going to link to a porn site!

Giving us tools to Tweet or Like JUB is not going to make us any more relevant in Google's eyes - simply because they won't be used. I'm not intending to be negative, it's a simple, basic fact. If the '+1s' can be made anonymously without having to connect to a Twitter/Facebook/Google+/Myspace etc account, then that's a different matter.
