Laura Nyro was a singer composer who was responsible for writing many popular songs in the late 60s and early 70s. But she was also a great performer in her own right, having a powerful voice and being a goo piano player. I'm afraid she never really got her due. She passed away too early, at the age of 49.

Here's a song that I remember from my teens. It has a catchy chorus, but I couldn't have told you who did the song. It was played in rotation on the "progressive rock" stations which catered to the young male audience back in the 1970s. I suspect that some JUBBERS might have got caught up in that trend in their younger days.

I will not.

But we watched the most horrific tribute to 50 years of Broadway for PBS Great Performances and had to slide through at least a half dozen numbers because we decided there was NO FUCKING WAY we would wake up at 3am with those tunes lodged in our somnambulant grey matter.
