I like that better than the one I posted: that one is more artsy-fartsy... but not earwormy... as of yet.

This is a song from the early 2000s that was based on a 70s disco song performed by a Swedish disco pop group Alcazar. They have many bops in their discography. As a group, they have retired from performing live together, however they were asked to give a guest performance in the Grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Sweden this year. It's also a symbolic moment as the group tried to get to the contest as competitors and yet neither attempt was lucky. Their latest attempt in the national pre-selection festival as a group was in 2014. A few members tried to enter the contest as solo acts more recently and failed even more.

^ In that one the stitches, parts and patches of the usual Swedish Frankenstein job in their bpop efforts is way more clearly visible... it's like one of those rhetorical exercises in which you must compose an original work based on your knowledge of canonical literary Latin works and the like... or the more or less menial or genious "recycling" of XVIIIth century composers.

The Crying one sounded "smoother" ("groovier") and more "inspired".

One of the catchier bops this year with some late 90s - early 2000s bopsicle flava.

As for Alcazar, they were well into their career when they competed in Melodifestivalen with Blame It On The Disco. Earlier, their sound was more disco inspired and their songs arguably were more catchy. Later, they followed the EDM trend with just some disco elements remaining to spice up.

More 2000s Alcazar

There were 4 members at first. Andreas and Magnus were a couple for a while. Later, Andreas got diagnosed with HIV+ and also the gay couple split. They were straight -acting in early career as you can see in the music video.
