My point was that there's nothing wrong with his opinion. If he prefers shaved men, that's his prerogative. My argument was that he shouldn't say that "most" gay men prefer shaved guys. Because that simply can't be true.

Or that most straight men are hairy and most gay men are shaved.

That's just a little silly, in my opinion.

Yes most gay men are shaved.Last year there was a tv show about body obsession and when they talked about gay men they were saying most gay are shaved.The body is very important for gay men because very often gay men wants to be loved by men and the only way to suceed is to be muscled and shaved.A lot of gay men goes to the gyms.Half men in gyms are gay.Gay men give too much attention to their body.The sexologist in that tv show said most of the things i said in the original post.It s true.It was from a tv show in montreal about the look,the men of today body obsession ect...

You got to admit a men of 33 years old will look older if he is hairy.If he is shaved he will look younger.You can t say it s false because it s true.

Women prefere hairy men because they find it masculine.A lot of women don t like shaved men because they said they look like women and are not real men.In the tv show women were not into shaved men at all.Gay men was.There were saying shaved men looks more young and beautiful.Theres nothing wrong with it.

I'm naturally hairy, and I usually shave most of it. However, I leave my treasure trail, armpits and legs the way they are.

My boyfriend loves the hair. He has told me not to shave it repeatedly. Personally, I like both smooth and hairy guys, and everything in the middle.

Listen, man, there are all walks of life on this earth. And every different walk of life likes a different type of person. Some people (people, in this particular case, being "gay men") like thin guys. Some people like heavyset guys. Some people like hairy guys. Some people like smooth guys. Some people like dark-skinned guys. Some people like light-skinned guys. Some people like in between. And some people don't care.

Again, there's nothing wrong with you loving shaved men. But you can't lump "most" gay men into that same opinion. And you can't say silly stuff like "most straight men are hairy" and "most gay men are shaved."

For me, I love a guy with hairy armpits, hairy legs... to look at.... I don't care too much if a guy is shaved or not. I just like guys that are cool, nice, friendly, and are inwardly beautiful. Course I'd prefer that he didn't shave his pubes, but if he did and I liked him for HIM, then it'd be just fine.

Here in montreal we have a lots of tv show about sexuality with all subjects.Often when it s about gay men sexologist are the guest and says often that gay men are more into shaved men.

Most can be 53%,58%,65%,or more.
Stop acting like the sexologist was saying most is 95%.It s not that.
If you prefer.Most gay men are shaved is more likely between 55% and 65% shaved.
You agree that 55% and 65% is the majority.
If you don t understand that theres nothing to do with you.

Here are some facts (heh heh) to add to the mix, softmen:
I read an article in one of the mags I get (Discover, Science News, US News, others) about this sort of topic, and your TV guy is heavily over-stereotyping and over-generalizing.

First, the "Shaved" claim: apparently a majority of gay men do prefer men who are shaved -- but that doesn't mean totally, it includes those who shave just their backs, or chests, or trim the borders of their pubic patch, etc. Yes, it's a youth thing, but "youth" does not mean "little boy", which is what being totally shaved brings to mind for roughly 2/3 of the gay guys I've ever met. Shaving to appear youthful means crisp borders to areas that are hairy, because that's the way we all were in the ripeness of late puberty. I watched a guy in a shower carefully shave around the edges of his armpits, making a very distinct border between hairy area and bare area, and found he was incredibly more attractive with the sharp borders -- but the two times I've seen guys with shaved pits, my reaction has been, Why don't they just get a sex change?
The youth-look phenomenon crosses gender: older women in great numbers are hugely turned on by men who shave just the way I've described for gay guys. That's as old as the Greeks; one of the Greek writers 'way back, like in the same age as Aristotle, commented on it. On the other hand, a lot of young women -- by no means a majority -- like more hair, because it leaves the man looking more mature, which raises the appearance of their value as women, sort of a declaration of "Look -- I'm young, and I got a solid, mature provider!"
I could play evolutionist and explain it all in terms of the competition to reproduce and that sort of thing, but suffice it to say that such a discussion will bring things back to this: different individuals have different "strategies", based on emotion, gut instinct, reason, or a mix, so there's no one standard of beauty, virility, desirability, or any such thing. Evolutionarily speaking, any species that settles on just one strategy -- read that as "one definition of beauty" -- is doomed.
So look again at gays: we have slender, chunky, buff, toned, chubby, anorexic, bears, whatever, and in each subpopulation there are secondary populations who have different ideals they pursue -- twinks chasing hunks, bears chasing smooth and toned, old chasing young, young chasing old; name it, it can be found. That variety and crossing type boundaries is a sign of a healthy species.
Okay, gays don't reproduce among themselves, but the hardware in our brains is still driven by the same sort of considerations, so our views of beauty turn out to parallel those of women very nicely -- whatever this TV guy had to say.

Which makes me wish I knew where to find a friend from a decade ago, who would probably laugh out loud in delight to see me finally out; she worked so very hard to get me to admit that I was sexual, that it was part of me and not demons invading my body. She used to look at guys and say, "Oooh! Nice ass!' And guess what? I have the same taste she did!

Anyway... before you claim "facts" again, at least check a source that can be considered scientific. Otherwise, you could just as well post that gay men like shaved male bodies because they're all pedophiles just waiting to molest the first barely pre-pubescent boys they can get their hands on and think they can get away with.....
