I'm not sure how to answer this, since this is in the straight/bi section....

when I'm with a guy, I'd most rather him be trimmed, but if i had to choose between only au natural and shaved, i'd chose natural.

Natural is best (but clean - I'm not crazy about smelliness), and a light trim that looks natural is OK, too. Close trimming reduces the guy's hotness, but I can get past it.

A totally shaved man might as well be a woman as far as I'm concerned. The only worse than shaved pubes is shaved armpits, unless it's religious/cultural, as with Muslims and some Eastern Europeans.

If we lived in a society where men had traditionally not shaved their faces, then yes. However, clean-shaven faces have been common long enough that the association has worn off.

Until very recently, men in Western society - in English-speaking part of it, anyway - did not shave their pubic hair, whereas smoothness has long had an association with extreme youth or femininity.

Everyone's entitled to like whatever they like, but as I said in a thread about tasting semen, I am truly puzzled by people who love men but don't like the things that set them apart from women, like body hair. Yes, women have pubic hair, but, again, smoothness = feminine, hairiness = masculine is a well-established image.

There's also the sheer fussiness of shaving and close trimming. Men aren't supposed to care that much about their appearance. Of course some do and always have, but obvious primping is feminine.

Anyway, I don't especially care what gay men do in this regard, but unfortunately women seem to prefer smooth, so now all the straight guys are shaving/close trimming. I do see a small rebellion against this among younger hippie/hipster types. Maybe this trend will spread.

When i was at school no one shaved down there unless it was done to you in an initiation etc but i've been told thats not the case now.
