I've been shaving my since my vasectomy. I use a 3 bladed razor and gel shave cream. The gel is good for some strokes as well. I'm surprised so many people have issues with itching. I've been shaving for years and have never had a problem with it. I think it has a lot to do with using the wrong products or shaving methods. I use a simple Mach 3 razor with gel shaving cream. I don't think the conventional shaving cream works well. Also, make sure you're not shaving top-to-bottom on your balls. You always want to shave up, from under the balls, to the penis. A good rule of thumb to avoid bumps is: if you're shaving above the penis, shave down; shaving below the penis, shave up. You should avoid shaving bumps and itching that way. If you shave often enough (I do it weekly, I'd say), you'll run into less problems. If you're doing it for the first time in a long time, I'd recommend trimming the hair shorter first, as long hair is harder to shave.

I want to get the norelco razor. I've been using a regular 2 blade disposable and sometimes the few days after a month of not doing it can be near unbearable. You really have to stick with it for it to get comfortable.

I do shave my pubic hairs and my ass hair. I use a 3 blade razor and gel shaving cream as well and it works like a charm. As far as treating the itching, I always use vitamin e oil or even itch creams. Aftershave only works on the face and neck, it's does'nt work as well on the pubic area.

I shave out of courtesy too. I hate getting pubes in my mouth, so I don't put other men through that. I use a Gillett Fusion and Everyman Jack shave lotion. The taint is the hardest part to get to. Also I shave everyday to avoid stubble. Stubble down there is just aweful!
 
I use a depilatory to remove body hair. I do shave my balls and groin but use a bumper razor with sensitive shave cream. I also use a Norelco Body Groomer razor too. Have to make sure that when using it, the foil part is used and not the side otherwise you will nick and cut. Get a beautiful shave from it.
