When I read this, I take it you are asking about the butt cheeks rather than about the "hole" area. I do use a trimmer on the cheeks once or twice a year. I have never had a hairy butt (or legs / chest for that matter). When I notice in the shower that I have a loooong hair (like wrap around your finger long) it time to get out the trimmer for the cheeks.

I use the same trimmer on the "crack" area every few months when I trim the pubes. I'm carefull to not get too close to the hole. Anytime I use the trimmer, I take off the plastic "length guide" and just "shave" the pubes all away. I do this because it is 10 times faster than using that damn length guide. Nobody see's me naked anymore so it all about convenience.
