I understand that there have probably been many threads on this before so I apologize... I did look on the first page as well as a quick search to see if there were any recent ones and I couldn't find any so I figured it'd be ok to start a new one!

I've shaved my pubes once before and afterward I was itching like crazy for a couple days! Not what I want... are there any tips to avoid this? Also tips on how to do it, I didn't do a very good job. Thank you very much for your help!

Why on earth would you be shaving your pubes anyway?

Pubic hair serves a wonderful and natural purpose.
Even trimming it some when it gets too long and bushy can
and does have unpleasant side effect for many of us. I feel
damp and clammy.

And I find a nice stand of pubic bush on a man a big turn on.

there can be side effects both with and without shaving pubes.

some guys develop a pube smell which shaving will take care of. shaving can create some dampness and stickyness as was mentioned. baby powder will take care of that.

it comes down to personal preference. personally i love the feeling of my shaved balls - so smooth and it enhances the feeling during sex as they feel more skin without hair.

i don't like the pubes above the cock completely shaved, but rather trimmed. completely shaved makes a guy look too much like a little boy. too much hair i just don't find as attractive.

Alright, shaving pubes is purely personal preference. Some guys dig it, some don't, but if you want to, by all means don't let others tell you what not to do. First of all, never use anything electric around those beautiful family jewels. Electric razors slice scrotal skin so easy it makes me cringe just thinking about it. Good ol' fashion razors are the best way to go. First however, using a pair of scissors, VERY CAREFULLY trim all of the hair you wish to shave to less than half an inch. After you're done with that, with your razor and some shaving cream, shave with the "grain", or in the direction the end of the hair is facing, until all of the hair is pretty much gone. Then, for a smooth finish, shave up, or against the grain to get a really close shave. Baby powder will help keep the area from getting damp, and always make sure the area is very well dried after showering and before putting clothes on.

Pubic hair actually decreases friction between the scrotum and your legs, so it may take some getting used to or experimenting to keep your scrotum to "sticking" to the inside of your thighs.

Personally, I use an electric trimmer to trim my pubes. It keeps it nice and neat, as well as dry...

But for the itchiness of shaving, try applying some aloe vera gel -- straight from the plant is preferable.

Electric trimmer for everything, only way to go. Benefits of shaving without any side-effects at all, and it is generally quicker and easier. I prefer the beard trimmers since they get even closer than normal hair trimmers.

You can use the attachments to gauge the perfect amount of pubic hair, too, if you do not want it all off.

It happened the same to me. In fact I had crabs (not nice experience) so I decided to shave. Then the crabs were gone but I was still all itchy, but a different kind of 'itchyness', so I guess that it was because of my shaving (I did it with a razor)

I have yet to see any improvements.
Shaved pubes, penis and testicles are a huge turn off.
If there is a smell down there either clean with mild soap,
