It may have been a poor choice of words on my part to call Maddow man/woman. But she does stereotype what a lot of hetro's think of as a macho lesbian. Whether you agree with that or not, I don't care.

Huh. I just thought she was an effective speaker and assertive professional. She's certainly less macho than a number of female professionals I've known who weren't lesbian (my favorite being the first female lawyer in a big college town, who came to be know as "The Bitch" because of how forceful she was in making her presence felt in court -- and later because of how she won time and time again, until she accepted the offer of a lower-paying position as student body attorney for the university, where she revealed to landlords and employers around the area just how much of a bitch she really could be in fighting for her clients [all fifteen thousand of them] and their rights).

It's not a "may," Jack, it WAS a poor choice of words. She doesn't stereotype anything. Most women wear pant suits these days. I also know more heterosexual women who have hair as short as Rachel than I do lesbians. You just perceive it as a stereotype, because she happens to be a lesbian. That's the problem with your opinions on this thread. You really brought out a lot of internal homophobia onto the board, and it's no surprise that many on here felt betrayed and offended by it.

I do like you Jack. Years ago, we've had some warming, friendly posts shared. It would be a shame if you felt compelled to leave.

By the way, Jack, don't bother talking sense into some of these people. They believe that because she's a lesbian she is capable of no wrong. In the past she has taken clips of her opponents, edited their words out of context, and then pasted it all together and prevented it as factual. The constant defending of her is pathetic. But this is what happens when a person becomes a kool aid drinker. It completely ruins your perception.

Does someone else saying (or typing) "asshole" or "cunty" suddenly paralyze my mouth (or my fingers)? Is there some magical power in such words that my brain is caused to shut down and my opinion dissolved so that it cannot emerge?

I own myself -- any real conservative ought to understand that! -- and the actions of another cannot negate that. Whether I air my opinion is up to me, and cannot be determined by the presence (or absence) of any words, of any sort, from anyone else.

Speaking of "grow up", most people outgrow their belief in such magical powers by high school.

Please document the claim that "They believe that because she's a lesbian she is capable of no wrong".

Also please document your second claim, "In the past she has taken clips of her opponents, edited their words out of context, and then pasted it all together and prevented it as factual." Your last attempt to do so was pathetic -- something that when I was teaching a college remedial reading comprehension course I would have handed back and said, "Do over."

Nope. The issue is that the nasty, sneering, liberal-hate, hit and run posting tactics are being called out by more and more posters.

By all means, post conservative opinions on any subject. But just for a change, why don't you, Pixel and Laika post an actual logical, positive, arguments about an issue instead of a steady, toxic stream of 'gotcha' posts.

Agreed. But the wingnut fringe these days, and even moderate conservatives have no plans. No ideas. No sense of direction the country needs to go in. Nothing at all, except attacking Democrats. That's their sole reason for being. These wingnuts want to be reelected because they want power, that's all. Darrell Issa is salivating waiting to get subpoena power back, because as he said "he's going to issue a flood of them against Obama, his staff, and Democrats". Why? Because the Republicans big agenda is to hamstring Obama and Democrats.

So given this, the only thing FOX news can broadcast talking points on are personal attacks. The posters here parrot the talking points they hear. Since all they hear are attacks and vapidity from the echo chamber of the right, that's what gets posted here. No surprise really.

Yup! She didn't wait until she had her own show, was famous in her own right, or whatever to come out. No, she was the first openly gay Rhodes Scholar and has been open her entire life. That as opposed to Republicans who come out only after being exposed or when they have a paycheck to gain from it.
