It was working fine until a few days ago and now it is crashing all over the place. I keep getting the error message that Flash has performed an illegal operation and, when I close it, it causes my Netscape to crash as well.

I removed Flash and reinstalled it and it still crashed, so I went looking for an update but the Adobe page told me that no update could be found to support my browser.

I use Netscape Version 7.0 (I've heard horror stories about Version 8) and have Windows98. (My system is too small to support XP.)

I found another version of Flash on a different website and installed that, but it is still crashing.

I hate using IE and have been using Netscape since I came onto the internet. Should I try reinstalling Netscape again? I know places like Yahoo don't even support Netscape anymore.

Any ideas? Any recommendations?

Yes. That's the page which told me that, if I have Netscape 6.0, I must upgrade to 6.1 before I can download. The next page told me that no program could be found to match my Browser. I believe they stopped supporting Netscape at 6.1, but I don't understand why it suddenly began crashing these past few days.

Below is a screen capture of my Browser Plug-ins. Note the different versions. I've checked the .dll versions in Windows Explorer and they match. The Version 9 should have been updated when I installed Version 10, shouldn't it?

If so, how do I get rid of the old version? The Add/Remove function didn't seem to work.

I just emailed a friend of mine who knows this stuff better than myself.

In the meantime, here's something I found via Google (in case you downloaded service pack 1 recently).

OK, so my friend thinks that it's most likely your browser. He suggested that you install IE, reboot after (even if it doesn't prompt you to restart your comp.) and visit a site with Flash content in it. IE automatically blocks Active X controlled content such as Flash, and sometimes prompts if you wish to install the latest version of flash. If this occurs, when trying to view the Flash content on the site, then there is no problem with your player, drivers, etc...just your browser.

If that doesn't work he added that perhaps your memory card has, in laymans terms, "lost its memory and is unable to recognize flash on your driver. Therefore you need to get more memory, or a new computer."

Hope this helps.

I don't understand it. I've reinstalled both Shockwave and Netscape, but it still crashes, and every time I try to go to Pornotube, I get an error message that Flash performed an illegal operation and Netscape crashes. Occasionally, it will crash simply by going to a website with Flash animation. And now I'm getting error messages any time I open a thread with a YouTube in it.

I've downloaded Firefox. If I install it and make it my browser, will I still be able to use my Netscape mail program?

I am having the same problem with IE. The only site that will work is pornotube. It said that I have to download latest version. If I go to the download site it tells me it is downloaded sucessfully. I tried to find it in add/remove etc.but it is not there. It seems as though the player is not being reconized. By the way I have to use the bypass detection on pornotube to get it to play, and it does. The other sites don't have this option. (xtube etc,):-({|= Any ideas---------I am using IE 6.

Playboy 2001-- I used the web site you gave and using the uninstall and install for Flash player I was able to get it to work. I couldn't delete it because it wasn't in my add/remove, ( as per thread ) but this site worked great "Thanks" Thought you would like to know------(!)
