Sean Bielat Compares Gays to Short People

Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank is in an unexpectedly close race for reelection this year, a sharp departure from 2008 when he cruised back to Washington with 68% of the vote.

Just another reason why we should all vote Republican. Dick Armey referred to Rep. Frank as "Barney Fag". Rush Fatboy referred to Rep. Frank as "My Boy Lollipop." Is this a great country or what?

In 2004, Ken Blackwell (R - Ohio) compared us (unfavorably) to farm animals.

"I don't know how many of you have a farming background but I can tell you right now that notion even defies barnyard logic ... the barnyard knows better."

(Blackwell is campaigning to become the next chairman of the Republican Party).

Funny how the military doesn't discriminate against people of moral and religious backgrounds however..

Sexual misconduct will happen whether they manage to out every last gay person in the service. Politicians who pander to this sort of ignorance will only make themselves look ignorant. But probably won't stop them from getting elected..

Such a moron. I live in dairy country, and it isn't uncommon at all to see cows humping each other, or for that matter horses, dogs, and farm boys.

Okay, not really the farm boys..... they go to the hay loft. :p

^ Yes, that exact same thought had occurred to me, also.

Homosexuality has been discovered in every mammal in which we have been able to observe for some time... ...including all those barnyard creatures.

I doubt that Blackwell knows that.

Republicans aren't very big fans of science.

I forgot one; there are sheep around here, too, and sheep definitely hump sheep. Sometimes farm boys hump sheep, too.....

You would think that these guys would follow the rule .................. better to be assumed an idiot than to open your mouth and confirm it

The more you scratch beneath the surface of some candidates the more you wonder how they got nominated

Good point, Sean. We haven't caught Bin Laden because we don't have short people to crawl in the small caves.

LOL

That reminds me of a Navy ROTC friend, drunk one night, who was holding forth that he'd been on a nuclear submarine for his last cruise, and decided that if they only let people under 4'6" onto sub crews, the Navy could save a hundred million dollars per boat.

He got in a bit of trouble from the commander for even revealing that he'd been on a "nuc', BTW. It wasn't major trouble because the other Navy ROTC guys vouched for us, and he told us to not pass it on; candidate officers weren't supposed to reveal their cruises if they were on anything with classified orders or into risk zones. (I'm safe here b/c the cruise was over a dozen years ago, and I haven't mentioned any names.)

The same thing was actually put forth quite seriously for any long-range manned space vehicles: a 10% reduction in height translates to a nearly 20% reduction in cross section and thus in volume... and thus in cost.

It's the same thing as their "Men will marry horses" argument.

What they continue to willfully ignore is the difference between arbitrary decisions and those made with good reason.

There are good reasons or a lower height restriction to serve, or for a horse to not have the right to marry. But banning (out) gays is purely arbitrary.

Of course no one should consider this an indication the GOP is plagued by anti-gay sentiment.

Wrong. It's short people got no reason to LIVE.

Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
To live

They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

Well, I don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
`Round here

Short people are just the same
As you and I
(A fool such as I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's a wonderful world)

Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
To love

They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
'Round here

(sorry, had to do it.)

We're in a recession and these idiots still talk about gays and unborn babies.

Maybe we should vote them in, the higher they are the harder they (metaphorically) fall.

This is the season for the uneducated tea party politicians.

I don't know which is worse -- that, or getting three marks on a physical and told three was too many. :(

Oh, I never tried to be in the military. I'm gay and I have a disability and I'm anti-war anyway, so it was a non-issue for me.

I'm sorry you missed it by three marks.

gays can serve, they just can't serve openly. which infringes on their first amendment rights.
The Uniform Code of Military Justice limits speech on soldiers for various things and has never been deemed unconstitutional.

For example, the UCMJ provision in Article 88 makes it a crime for an officer to use contemptuous words against the president, the vice president, Congress, the secretary of defense, the secretary of a military department, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, and the list goes on.

Of course, Article 88 applies across the board, evenly, regardless of gender, religion, ethnic origin, and so on. It is non-discriminatory, whereas "don't ask, don't tell" is discriminatory. But if the legal issue is not of discrimination but rather on First Amendment grounds, that's going to be much more of a challenge.
