Is it unfair to call them Christmas trees?

Discuss. :-)

Yeah, and let's call a Christmas wreath a glory hole.

LOL they're Christmas Trees!

Should we call Menorah's "Holiday Candelabras"? ;)

If I ever have a child i'm going to name him Christmas tree.

If people have a problem with that then screeeeeewww them!

Alternatively I think they should be renamed to plastic fibre optic tree wannabe's

Screw PC. IT'S A CHRISTMAS TREE

Who the fuck cares?

It is a pagan Germanic tradition that became popularized by the Victorians.

Call them whatever you want.

Who cares what they're called?! As long as they're glittery and gay!
after all.. isn't that what christmas is all about? Glitter and fabulosity?!

Oh, now you've gone and done it....

Mary didn't give birth to the "holiday" child. Jesus was the Christ child. I'm a big believer in traditions so I celebrate Christmas for what it is, a remembrance and celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Everything associated with Christmas should retain "Christmas" in its name.

So let's call it what it is - a Christmas tree. It doesn't matter if it's a pagan symbol, it's still a Christmas tree.

Furthermore, they're Christmas carols, not holiday carols
People go Christmas shopping to buy Christmas presents, not holiday shopping to buy holiday presents.
It's a Christmas cactus, not a holiday cactus
It's a Christmas rush, not a holiday rush
There's a Thanksgiving turkey and a Christmas turkey, not a holiday turkey
On the radio, they're playing Christmas songs, not holiday songs
Children hang up Christmas stockings, not holiday stockings
It was the night before Christmas, not the night before the holiday
You can have holiday decorations any time of the year, but at Christmas, they're Christmas decorations
You bake Christmas cookies, not holiday cookies
Charles Dickens wrote "A Christmas Carol," not "A Holiday Carol." Scrooge wasn't visited by the Spirits of Holidays Past, Present and Future.
Bing Crosby dreamt of a "White Christmas" with every Christmas card he wrote. He wasn't dreaming of a "White Holiday" with every holiday card he wrote...

What does everyone think about changing Santa Clause to "Holiday Man"?

LOL they're Christmas Trees!

Should we call Menorah's "Holiday Candelabras"? ;)

This is the same argument I've been making.

We don't call Dreidels "Holiday Tops", either.

Do people who celebrate Hanuka or Kwanzaa put up Christmas Trees? No.

Do people who celebrate Christmas put up Menorah's or wear Dashikis? No.

Leave the respective holidays alone. ;)

If a tree is going in my house, then I'm gonna call it whatever I damned well please.

What's next? Are we going to be hearing children singing refrains of "O holiday tree, O holiday tree?"

They're called HOLIDAY TREES as a justification for workplaces/government offices to put them up without endorsing a religion.

They ought to, IMO, remain Christmas trees, and governmental entities should just refrain from putting them up.

My opinion will not be heeded.

Going back to their origins is a good idea when considering what the Christians have done historically to the pagans.

Yule Tree, Pagan Tree, or Holiday Tree would be good.

ooopps.....posted a minute too slow. :)

I'm insulted when you call it a Holiday tree.

I want it to be called: Secular Quiet Acknowledgment of Winter/Rain/Summer Coming/Celebration Using A Triangular Tree-like Object from Non-Specific Region of A Protected Ethical Area.. hacked down by icky Mexican people, with decorations by puny cheap Asians who are owned by fat rich Jews (no black people are involved).
