I was a bit bored and went to a local bar to play a couple of games of pool by myself--I walked in and saw a guy that I had hooked up with a few weeks ago--he texted me once and never returned my answer. One of his friends told me he had a boyfriend and that was why he never returned my call. I have no bad feelings toward him and I certainly don't want to hook-up with him again--should I have acknowledged him? He was with a group of friends and I did not know if one was his boyfriend or not.

i would have nodded towards him at some moment or so. whatever the reasons might be, i hate it when you don't even acknowledge the presence of someone that you know.

A simple ---> hey how's it goin.

would have been fine. If he answered back just small talk would have worked.

I'd say unless you felt a real need to say "hi," you don't need to.

Small world out there though, eh?

Yeah well, my numbers are starting to add up---it's bound to happen.

I thought that as well---but I would have had to try and catch his eye and I did not want to stare over at them, so I just played pool and did not spend a lot of time looking around.

Just glad I was dressed nice and looked cute. :D

-eye contact
-half smile
-subtle head nod
-then go back to what you were doing while smiling as though you are remembering doing him or have a private joke running in your head
-then you never look at him unless he comes over to say hi

Is it a bad thing that I did do that to the guy he was sitting with when he went to the bar to get a drink (man, he was cute)

^^^well... you did the write thing. He had a boyfriend, so why the flirt?

Go ahead and flirt to the guy he was sitting with. Unless, that guy was his boyfriend!

I did notice the guy was checking me out while in line---it was just a quick "I saw you looking at me--you're cute back" look--nothing too lewd. :D

Where you worried that the BF would freak? If so the nice thing would be to show that side of his new BF to him. I mean if you cant even have friends.......

Nothing wrong with a hello.

Or were you afraid he would not be friendly because he never responded to your text?

I could somewhat get it if he didn't respond to you text IF he hadn't sent the first one. That sounds just plain rude. Better off working those numbers.

On the contrary to what many said, I think you should have gone up to him to say hi since there's a possibility that his boyfriend might have been there. Absolutely. If he hooked up with you when he shouldn't have (because not all boyfriends are okay with open relationships), he deserves to be caught and to be corrected with an awkward incident. The boyfriend has every righ to know, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was hurt by the incident later. See what the guy who hooked up with you has done?

And if the boyfriend doesn't hurt, well, then what's the harm in going up to your friend and saying hi? ;)Besides, I'm like Corny: I absolutely dislike situations where when two people who know each other come to the same place but don't acknowledge each other's presence, even when the point of fact is that both know that they are there. Then again, I'd understand if it's simply because of shyness.

If you are likely to keep running into this man again and again, by all means break the ice and acknowledge him in a cordial, casual, and polite manner. The presence or absence of a boyfriend is not relevant (so long as you mind your manners).

It takes more time and energy worrying about what you should do. He could turn out to be a friend. There are plenty of guys I hooked up with once, in the heat of passion, but continued to be civil to them and their lovers afterwards. There should "honor among thieves." But don't interfere with their relationship.

Ditto. It's annoying and insulting.

Lol---well, he did not even look in my direction and I was in his line of sight playing pool for a good 45 minutes, so I thought maybe there was a reason he did not say hi himself.
