Should JUB Admin & Mods be more agressive in combatting Mature Men bashing?

I'm not aware of that much mature men bashing. Is it more prevalent on the Political forum? I hardly ever visit that forum. I've rarely seen it on this forum. Anyway, if it is a problem, I'm sure the very capable Moderators will take care of it.
 
The only way to stop childish squabbling is to get more moderators.

The problem with this is, you might get someone who is biased towards a certain member.

And if that member gets into name calling or something with a member the new moderator likes, he's going to be playing favourites when the time comes.

I don't see why that should have action taken towards it? If it wasn't specifically mentioning anyone here then why is it a big deal? They weren't exactly generalizing. Obviously it was a specific person and that may no affect their feelings toward all "Mature" men.
 
Mel laid down the law in that section. Yes I do agree that we need more tough moderation. But the moderators are doing everything in their power to moderate all throughout the sections. I know you're more angry than anyone else on here Haze about the whole bashing. But as long there is a moderator online they will take care of the problem.

Also with that new thread Mel posted up and sticked she pretty much told anyone who doesn't find any of the following: Chub, Bear, Mature men to their liking to go else where. That guy who posted his opinion on how unattractive and disgusting that older man was quite cold hearted and wrong glad those posts have been deleted. Rest assure that the moderators are doing their best.

but I'm a full grown man and I can stand up for myself. This isn't a grade school playground. Seth and JD have enough to deal with without defending me from people who don't wanna fuck me and think I'm past it.

Yes. But not only in this forum. We all know that similar (or worse) things happens in other threads. Maybe they should make public the results of their actions. Just my humble opinion...
 
is it really mature men bashing when a person says something about an old troll staring?... i mean its not saying anything about older guys being bad.. just saying that some can be really really creepy the way they look at people... but that goes for everyone... I'll call anyone a troll if they creep me out the way they look at me...

i can't really describe the look very well.. but its like the person is undressing u with their eyes... and then having their way with u... and it just feels soooo weird when it comes from someone your not attracted to...

the old women that do it to me are the worst though... god.. its so creepy...

ANYWAY onto the subject... sure the mods should prolly up their game and keep these forums more orderly... but they are just people and can't be online all day and looking at ALL of the threads.. there needs to be more mods...

and i dunno about the twink bashing threads getting closed right away... mostly because i haven't seen any twink bashing threads... i guess they get closed up pretty quickly... i do on the otherhand sometimes get some really bitchy PM's from older guys when i don't respond to everything they say right away... but hey... i don't have time to go through and repond to every single email and pm I get... so I won't respond to the ones that only say things i hear all the time....

I have to agree with Soilwork here.
If some immature guys have immature thoughts and opinions, be mature enough to not take it personal.
And unless they direct something personally at YOU it still is an opinion just as "Ew I don't like small dicks" or "Ew i hate effeminate men" and others.
We are not thought police.

Isn't it interesting that in this case now you're crying for heavier moderation, and every time when we pull questionable threads or posts people immediately start crying "censorship", too?

Most of the threads that I have seen about that topic consisted of one or a few bad posts, but immediately other members showed the posters how wrong they are or how wrong their opinions are, so you can hardly talk about "mature men bashing". I think self-moderation is working here pretty good.

Apart from that there are only two people who regularly complain like this - so I guess it's not a that big issue. This isn't happy flower fluffy wonderland. Our membership is that big that it is pretty much is a reflection of the community at all. And there are young people there that get turned off by old men - it's just a reality, as there are people who don't like hairy men or people who don't like uncut or effeminate men, people who make "anti-bisexuals" threads or ridicule peope into watersports, and so on and so on. And there are always people who can't keep negativity for themselves, so be so mature to either ignore or educate them. Unless they don't insult you specifically or spread hate speech they are not violating the CoC.
People may have (strong) opinions that you don't like - live with it.
We also have a few mods who are more on the "older" side of life, nobody of those ever has asked to ban or warn someone for immature posts like that. They just roll their eyes and move on, laughing about the stupid kid.
 
no moderators shouldn't be deciding what people can post. if it violates rules fair enough I guess, but thats all they should be doing.

how do some people cope in the real world without moderators to protect them and to delete the things they do not like?
 
No, what they are doing seems to be working very well right now.
 
I think the regulars do a pretty job of trashing the kids that make disparaging remarks about the older members. Give the MODs a break. This place is a mixed bag.

Wow, I'm off line for a few hours and I miss things. If your going to let some young guy, that doesn't know his ass from his elbow get on your nerves, we not doing something right, or we are forgetting what we were like at that age. They often think they are first gay people. The world is new, and sex is new, (for them it is). A lot of youngsters these days don't quite understand that we lost a generation to AIDS. I don't know that I wrap my head around that, and I was there! We need to better guides, and sometimes we need to beat them with a stick. But let's not get upset or take it too personally.

There is a ton of older guy bashing here and everywhere on the web. I'm 45, middle aged in the real world, but ancient in the rose colored world of seventeen to twenty-eights. I remember feeling like a different species from old people when I was younger but that's different from screaming on and on about old people stalking you in Wal-mart, people who do that are trying to alleviate there own growing fear of aging and losing their beloved looks. They are climbing and stepping and clawing their way to the top of a pile of corpses so they can breath because they are so afraid of looking old. Should old bashing be banned? Not unless you want to ban all guys 17-28 from the internet. Besides 10 or so years will take care of their problem and waiting at the end of that time will be their reward, for they become what they profess to hate. By the way, I hate young guys, they are stupid and gross!

I don't really see this problem on the boards at all. It must be really rare for me to miss it.

I see JUB as a place to come and express your feelings, get them out and then move on. I think that's all a lot of these guys are doing. I wouldn't want to censor that.

And on my part, its good for me to hear things that sting once in a while. These boards are good at teaching me how to let someone else have their opinion without it making my world come to an end.
 
Heres my thoughts on the matter pretty plain and simple. this is a public forum and anyone should be able to freely express any legitimate thought or idea but I was always taught from a very early age that "it's not what you say but how you say it". The child who posted the infamous wal-mart thread had he been more sensitive and respectful could have presented his thoughts in way that may have promoted more adult responses rather than the childish, immature mudslinging that ensued.

FerChrissake, get a grip! An older guy cruises a younger guy because he sees something beautiful (although, in your case, I think he should run for the hills.) Don't be such an aloof diva that nobody can approach you. And don't you dare try to convince me that you don't use your eyes to undress some of the young hunks, too!! :grrr:

And don't forget, someday, you're going to be one of those older guys, so give 'em a break every now and again!
