Schwa's adorable, I've a weakness for black cats. They don't get adopted as much as the other shades, so when roomie and I went to shelter we were meaning to check them out specifically and ended up being caught (literally) by one before we even got out of the first cat room. He snagged K's clothing through the bars, so he ended up picking up and then the little bugger got hold of me at the same time and he's got one of the loudest purrs I've ever heard. Short story, he came home with us and is currently dozing on Kris's knees. We're still getting him used to harness so he can go to the park.
 
Well, she is not really my pet, we are just sheltering her until she founds her definitive family. But this cutie is Ela, she's really a sweetie.

I haven't had a pet since high school. Lol, my 6 y.o. son has a goldfish, a hybrid husky/labrador (one brown eye and one near-white blue one), and a siamese cat ... ALL NAMED "SUZIE!!!" Now he wants a $1600 cockatoo at the pet shop! I tell him, "We have ENOUGH Suzies!!!" Lol, I don't, and noone in my family knows where this, his fascination with Suzie originates!!!
 
This all started with a goldfish that he "won" at a county fair when he was 2 ... amazingly enough, that fish is still alive in a new aquarium with fish of my choosing, but somehow, those fish don't have names.
 
I have had cats for the last 25 years, mainly because of my lifestyle. I can leave cats for a couple days and they are fine. I can even go on holiday because a neighbour will feed them.
Much as I would love a dog again (my last one was when I was 22) it would be so impractical

My last 6 dogs were rescued dogs. Seeing how we just lost a dog due to old age and his sister is starting slow down as well, we figured it's time to get another one. We were going to get at least another dog from the shelter. But we found a deal on corgis that is too good to pass up. The woman got 2 puppies she's trying to rehome. Earlier in the week, we were going to only get one. Now, we are considering getting both. Never had corgis before. (!)
 
I'm not a big cat fan, but I adopted an 11 year old Calico from Nashville about a month ago. I don't actually know the breed, only that she is a Calico.

She is a bit moody and bossy, but that is fair, as I am at least her 3rd owner. The previous owner was a young woman who had moved in with a roommate in an apartment, and the roommate's cat was bullying this one badly and outsized it. This cat also had the disadvantage of having been declawed. So, the gal felt it was only fair to get the cat out of the bad situation.

The owner prior to two years ago was an elderly lady who had to go into a nursing home.

So, I have a fussy older cat who really needed a good home. I've always been a dog owner but have had a cat twice before, but briefly.

I'm doing what I can to spoil her, and giving her treats and playing, but stopping short of letting her boss me. She has the run of all the main floor, which is about 2200 sq. ft. She also enjoys prowling about the deck out back, but I have to keep an eye out for the hawk and the owl, as they might try to take her. She stalks squirrels, but has zero chance without claws.

I went to Vancouver on Friday to see Joker with a friend. I returned home about 12:40 a.m. I was greeted to my cat and I could just tell she was happy to see me. (Who wouldnt be when youve been abandoned for 7 hours)

I went to bed and she lies 3 inches away from my head and she purred for at least 10 minutes, maybe 15 minutes. It was a wonderful sound and feeling knowing your cat / pet is absolutely content with you

She then beat up my teddy bear from England, circa 1968. I need to find her a replace teddy bear to beat up on

Update on our corgi pups.

They are doing very well. After just one day with us they are already following us around without a leash. They had a couple accidents in the house the first day and second morning. But so far that's been it. We think they are very close to being house trained.

They sleep with us in the bed. So far no pee stain in the bed.

We take them to the dog park and they are very playful with other dogs and people.

Our big 120 lb giant adult dog is starting to get along well with these two. He didn't like them very much at first. But now he sniffs them and stuff. When we cuddle with the pups, he inserts himself right in the middle of us to remind us he's still there.

Corgis are awesome dogs.

I first ran into a corgi several years ago and fell in love with the breed. But after looking up how much they cost I gave up the idea of getting one. They are in high demand and there are very few breeders for them. For example, there was a litter of corgis in our city listed $1800-2500. They went fast.

Fortunately, we found a family in the next state over with two 6 months old pups. We managed to talk them into selling them to us for $200 each. :gogirl: Our plan was to get both, keep one, and sell the other around here for like $800-1000. But after spending several days with them, we have decided to keep both.

We have always had all our dogs eat together from one bowl. I know most people have separate bowls for their dogs. But we like our dogs to share everything. It makes them closer to each other.

At first, our adult dog growled at the puppies for getting near his food.

This morning, look what we found. :D The big adult dog playing with the puppies and then they ate together.

I'd like to say they are potty trained since they haven't had an accident since the second morning we got them and this is their 5th day with us. But I don't count my chickens until I've eaten them LOL. They've been sleeping with us in the bed every night and the bed remains pee-free :rotflmao:
 
My cats stitches came out yesterday from her spaying
She has been THROUGHALLY entertained with the plastic pull thingie you take off of 4 liter of milk container
