72-Jay,
That's a lifetime collection of ornaments - with some of the older, basic, more commercial ones dieing along the way - old satin balls and such. It has some of my parent's ornaments on it, too.

My son's comments from San Diego when he saw the pic was that it looked like Santa had thrown up all over it - come a little closer so we can smack you - your sisters worked hard to get EVERY ornament they could find on it this year. Yeah, it's a bit over the top, but that's our Christmas - memories in many of the ornaments.

I can't believe they got that many on - our older artificial that "passed away" a few years ago was even broader in size - from when we had a larger place - it was a "bottle brush" artificial w/ flocking that I bought the year we got married - 35 Christmases ago. I think even it would have been hard pressed to take all that we have added in the ensuing years.

@ DonQuixote:
Your son's comment is incorrect... all those ornaments make the tree look awesome :cool:
Cool that there's a lifetime's collection displayed there.

I picked one of mine to post ... decided on one with red lights since thats a nice xmas-ish color
The decorations & garland don't show too well because they're red like the lights...
(couldn't get the best pic since I pretty much jammed this as far back in the corner as I could get it & theres some other 'stuff' blocking the bottom part LOL)

LOL - I was just going to post a copy of this pic from George Takei's thread.

72Jay - is that a blue and gold tree next to the red one?

That's a lot of decorating, too.

My folks had two trees for many years - one was a silver tree with rotating color wheel - yes, THAT kind - we got it (we thought ) for one Christmas back around '62. My mom put it out to the road several years ago - to our horror. The next year they were on e-bay for $900. I think the tree cost my folks $12.99 or $14.99 the year we got it.

Here is my little four footer.

@Native Son:
That Darth Vader tree is cool & unique. (wouldn't be all that hard to do either)
Maybe a good idea for my black tree next year (but at halloween instead)

@DonQuixote:
Yep on the right side is indeed a tree with blue & gold decorations + orange lights (to the left is another with a different shade of red lights)
I've never seen one of those silver trees with the color wheel in person (I kinda remember my mother describing one).. In a way I think that'd be sorta cool LOL
Wow sucks that your mom dumped it without asking :(

----------
My 'Blue Lights' tree, decorations are blue too (like the red one its sorta stuffed back in a corner.....)

@DonQuixote:
Moreso a lineup along the wall

@Pickwick:
I agree, especially if you could somehow do it in a bedroom
(LOL if I could do that I'd probably sleep in the 'forest' every night...with the lights on)

-------
I might post one last pic tomorrow...
Any favorite colors?

What? I posted several pics of my tree - here and other threads.

Does that mean you have three in that range?

Magenta is not Purple in my book.
Blacklight is not really purple, either - the ornaments of varied fluorescent tones just come to life under the purplish black light.

Violet - the Royal shade of the Roman Empire.

Yep I have those 3 colors of lights
I agree Magenta ain't purple, I've just seen it called that for lights (it ain't pink either LOL but sometimes its called that for lights too) . I don't know why they just don't call it what it is LOL

I should totally try some fluorescent ornaments (if I could find such) on the blacklights (again the box called 'em purple LOL)
--------------

The decorations are a mix of true purple & maroon-ish red, garland is moreso magenta since I don't have purple, lights are a bit darker purple than they look...
