Really?... Hmm, I never heard of that, only time I've heard it was when people try to find them in the wild, and they look similar to a very poisonous type of mushroom..

I did it last night for the first time... definitely a liberating, life-altering experience
 
aaah! Your query has brought to mind the psychadelic images of my misspent youth. What incredible fun shrooms were. Happy times, great visuals and a trip that's over when you're ready for it to be over instead of going on for 12 hours, as with LSD.

If you're experienced with psychadelics, by all means try shrooming. If not, do it with someone who can guide you through the experience. Take at least 1/8 oz., expect them to taste bad and get stuck in your teeth, expect to get nauseous but try not to throw up (the feeling will pass) and surround yourself with cool things to look at (I had a special affinity to wallpaper and venetian blinds).

I concur with BreatheH2O, as long as you're getting them from a dealer and not picking wild mushrooms yourself, you're probably not going to get sick or die.

A funny story about Shrooms: A painter friend in NYC, had a hit show and used the money to buy an old blueberry farm in the Berkshires near Albany. One day a very old woman came up his road, and asked if she could hunt for mushrooms on the farm. He agreed but required that she take him along to show him which were edible and which were not. She agreed, so off thy went into the woods together. They had a great day collecting, and he'd learned a great deal about both the edible and poisonus mushrooms that grew on his farm. That night, he prpared a steak, and smothered it with his day's collection.

Later while he was sitting in his favorite chair reading a good book, and having his evening pipe, he suddenly went off into the wild blue wonder. He didn't get back to his book for three days. He saw amazing things and had amazing adventures.

A few days later, after a nice rain, the old woman showed up again to go on another hunt. He told her about the side effects, and she just smiled at him and said: "Ain't they wonderful?"
 
I did, years and years ago.

We mixed them with thawed frozen strawberries, which took away the bad taste. The nausea didn't last long and wasn't bad. We did them outside, at the beach once, another time at Lake Arrowhead, another at Big Bear, in the woods, on a mountain, and I really liked that expansiveness rather than being confined between walls.

Been a long time since I felt in the right place, spiritually (god did I just write that?!) to do them again but I'm just about there. When I find someone I connect with who's into it, I think I will.

Ten years ago I was buttoned up on a high floor of a big investment firm on Wall Street, and here I am now thinking hey eating shrooms again might be fun. What a ride.
 
yyeah, i tried them on my bf's birthday, he had done them before, and it was him, myself and an ex-friend (he decided he'd hate me because he wanted my bf) and it was TOTALLY FUN! being with someone ya love is a definite recommendation, we tripped together, and would go on these big adventures, and at one point, we wrapped ourselves in a big blanket, and just sat out on his porch talking, and tripping, and cuddling...loved it...and as bad as it sounds, it was one of the best points in our relationship too!
