Hey guys, so last Friday night I got the drunkest I've ever been before. Ever since losing weight and getting in shape, I notice I can't drink a lot anymore. Aside from that, I smoked my first whole cigarette for the first time and thought I was cool, so I ended up smoking another. Not too long after that, I'd say about 30 minutes after my second one, I began having signs of an Asthma attack. I do have asthma, so in my part it was a stupid decision to smoke. I was too far away from home to get my inhaler, so I did my best to control my breathing while I was driven back. I was okay Saturday, but Sunday night I got another episode out of the blue, and I got a bit dizzy. Today I've felt like I have allergies, congestion in the upper nasal canal and forehead and a bit dizzy. I do have all my asthma and allergie meds, I just hadn't needed them in quite a while. Do I just need to stick to my meds for a while or did I cause something wrong to happen?

I did read that there is a high amount of pollen in the air in my area, and I got worse when I stepped outside today.

If you have asthma - you have your answer. You shouldn't ever smoke.
That being said, statistically your life will now be 8-28 minutes later (depending on which statistic you believe). But if it just stays this one time not much will happen. And you learned this lesson ;)

Sounds like the high pollen count is causing your symptoms and as an asmatic
you should always carry your inhaler at the very least even if it is only the
salbutomal one and not the steriod one which is usually brown in colour .
Corny is spot on when he said if you are asthmatic then you should not smoke.
No-one should be smoking anyway because each cig does shorten your life by around 4 minutes per cig so smokers are in a way committing suicide very slowly
without even realising it .
Though again guys know the risk so this is not an anti-smoking rant .
As for passive smoking stats show this causes very many untimely deaths .
Though here is a really amazing fact it is a lot easier to give up injecting herion
than it is to stop smoking (should have said heroin #-o ) .
Though the fact you actually inhaled unlike a certain American President will cause
you no damage as long as it was only a couple . ..|

Yea, I did this purely out of curiosity, so I don't plan to do it again, nor do I desire to. I was just worried I might have hurt myself, except for losing 8 minutes from my life and having this uncomfortable feeling of not being able to breathe well isn't so fun.

Well, you now have an idea of what life for an end-stage lung disease patient is like.

If your symptoms aren't resolved by use of your inhaler, give you doc a call before the weekend and see if he wants to have you come by for an office visit.

Is it possible to get sick from the tobacco? Coinsidently it seems like I've come down with a stomach flu or virus, which could also be part of my symptoms? Aside from that there shouldn't be anything I should worry about right? Just not ever smoke again.

The effects of tobacco are short-term. The effects of smoke exposure may take a couple of days to resolve, especially if you're someone how has reactive airways.

It's more likely that you have a upper respiratory infection. The timing might be a coincidence.
