  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention Signs you're getting old.

I just use a corner to trim what's sticking out. While exhaling. No way is a sideburn trimmer fitting in my nose. :)

/\ US minimum wage increased to $2.00 an hour in 1974.

Figuring out inflation isn't worth the bother since there isn't a kid alive today who would want those. They can only be blown up once.:)

Last night I ordered a glass of wine with my dinner, and the waiter asked for my ID. I replied "do I look that young?" and the waiter said "No. I just wanted to see if you qualified for the Senior Citizen discount."

Did you give him the Early Bird Special?:)

this Radio Shack ad has to be from the 1980's since the computer listed is running Intel's 286 chip, has an optional 20 mb hard drive, Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet software is available; and, a 2 button mouse is also available :rotflmao:

If that ad is from 1980 (which seems about right), the computer in todays dollars would cost $5964.00.

I remember cleaning computer mice--the balls and also the plastic rollers inside. Somewhat of a pain. Although the longest lived mouse I had was probably the one that came with my first (and last) brand new computer--an Apple ADB mouse. I used that for more than ten years. I got the same 10+ years out of the keyboard, too, although that had dirty switch problems a couple of times (and one dead key that never came back to life, no matter how much cleaned).

I'd put it closer to 1990 than 1980, due to the processor and what looks like a 3.5" floppy drive. Also RadioShack sold under the TRS-80 name earlier.

Still, that computer would probably be $$$ converted to today's currency.

I also noticed portable CD players in that ad, which would put it more 1990.

More like 1984 I think. Just for the price of the portable CD player. Just that there was a portable CD player.
