Attention Signs you're getting old.

Am I the only one who finds it quicker to dial the phone number of friends/family from memory rather than looking that person up on my contact list? :rotflmao:

It's the service itself, which may cease being available to me.

My internet went up $30 a month this month. I will have to check around, but as far as I know I only get one home internet company where I live still. Sucks they can charge what they want for something people kind of need to function.

I know zero phone numbers these days besides my own. Whenever my cell dies and I get a new one I ask on Facebook for people's numbers.

Looks like you need to learn about hotspoting with your phone, too.

Anyway, if you have a cellphone, you more than likely have a Google account. Do you use Gmail?

Your Google account will save your contact list for as long as you have the account. Google will then load your list onto any device you want - new, or current should you have to do a factory reset. I have my exact same contact list on every one of my devices, and I have several. It costs nothing.

A similar situation exists where I am. My current ISP is often the only choice. Or if there is another choice, it's from a company people hate even more. And there are--inexplicably for 2024--pockets where the wired service that exists is slow. Indeed, I saw an artilce talking about one area that--finally in 2024--will actually getting high speed Internet.

Costs nothing, except you are providing info to Google. Contact lists are said to be highly useful for them, as they spy on you and target you with ads.

One of the reasons I'm so resistant to the idea of using a phone as my primary device is that--realistically, due to the need to keep prices low, I'll have to go Google Android. And it's more than possible that even with the mitigation efforts I'm aware of, that they'll track everything I do on that phone. Admittedly, for much of what I need to do day to day, the loss of privacy is more creepy and annoying than anything. But it would still be limiting. For example, as I said before, do I really want Google tying this site, with porn, to my real idenitfy? And I definitely don't want them to be able to figure out my beliefs on various controversial topics.

Although using the phone as a hotspot is an idea I've considered before now. But to evade Google spying, one would need a VPN on the computer (adding more $$$ to the monthly cost). Plus the plans I looked at weren't terribly generous with hotspot data.

If it is a computer issue - consider a tablet rather than just trying to use your phone - it is a lot easier to read and manipulate!
I think, overall, I'd prefer a tablet because it has a bigger screen.

One other plus: I've seen some attractive data-only plans for tablets. That sort of thing appeals to my cheap side. (Not lke I have anything but a cheap side!)

I don't really remember Atari vs Intellivision, even though I was elementary school aged at about that time. I only vaguely knew the Atari name (by fall of 7th grade). Then, my parents didn't approve of video games. Rotted your brain,I suppose. My father heard they were hard on TV sets. (I'm betting what he heard of was the "burn in" problem of static images on CRT sets.)

I wonder after seeing that ad if Intellivision was overall superior, or if they carefully selected games to find an area where Atari was unusually weak and Intellivision was unusually strong?

I’m squinty, Vannie is fatty, peeonme is leaky. Belamyi would still be grumpy 😂
