Singer/singers that have touched you the most?

Yea i would say mariah defenatly and nelly furtado her earlier stuff...more recently i think the dixie chicks...the last album (taking the long way) has really touched me....'easy silence' is so beautiful

Rufus Wainwright came out, didn't he? Cool, liked his father, haven't listened to the son much.

Annie Lennox! If there is a Goddess, she's Scottish 8').

And I heard Celine Dion has a new album about to come out, not that I have anything of hers (well, ok, somehow the Titanic tune is somewhere in my collection).

Tori Amos - her music has changed my life, I wouldn't be where I am today without it. It never fails to calm me or make me happy. Also she has LITERALLY touched me - I met her and hugged her in 2005 :P

Fiona Apple - best breakup music EVER. Seriously, if you're feeling angry, put on When the Pawn and sing your heart out, best therapy.

Sigur Ros - their music is so beautiful, sometimes when I listen it almost reduces me to tears.

Asin - culturally speaks to me.

Christina Aguilera
- what can I say, her songs and her voice are just are like emotional batteries. I can listen to her when I'm sad (Beautiful), angry (Fighter, Still Dirrty, Here to Stay), or feeling like shaking my ass off (Dirrty, Candyman).

P!nk - pretty much same reason as Christina except I listen to her when I'm really really angry (Stupid Girls, Dear Mr. President), incredibly depressed (Eventually, Misery) or feeling like I don't give a fuck and ready to take on the World (Cuz I Can).

Mariah Carey - I've been listening to her songs since I was a little kid. I think she has the most inspirational songs I know of. (Hero, There's Got to Be A Way, My Saving Grace, Can't Take that Away and Fly Like a Bird.)

Janis Joplin - probably one of the best singer I've ever know. She knows how to bring out the emotions out of any songs. Her killer songs includes: Maybe, Cry Baby, and Ball and Chain.

Bjork - her strangeness fuels mine. She has some songs that are really touching such as Unison and All is Full of Love.

Marilyn Manson - as weird as it may sound he has some very touching songs and haunting too. Songs like The Nobodies and Coma White.

John Mitchell (Hedwig) - I love listening to the sound track of Hedwig and the Angry Inch such as Wig in a Box, Wicked Little Town, Midnight Radio, and Origin of Love.

Bob Marley - Bob's music is instant relaxation. He is the Epiphany of Reggae. Classics such as Redemption Song and No Woman No Cry are unforgettable.

Freddie Mercury, Garth Brooks (only "The Dance"), Christina Aguilera, Janis Joplin, Tracy Chapman, and Jesse L. Martin (always sends chills down my spine when listening to the slow version of "I'll Cover You")

The only voice that touched me so deeply that made me burst in tears was, and still is, BILLIE HOLIDAY's.
If soul pain has a voice, then this is it.

Melissa Etheridge, Alanis Morisette, and Tracy Chapman.

The Gods of music in my opinion

Ann Wilson without a doubt. She wrote a song called Sand that she wrote for her gardener who died f AIDS (she also sang it at Layne Staley's funeral) that kills me. Pretty much anything that woman puts her voice on is amazing!

Billie Holiday Is Definatley my 2nd Choice, No One Has Ever put So Much emotion into a song, and i dont think anybody ever will!

Although he's not my favorite singer, Phil Collin's voice in "Against All Odds" touches me.

Amazing choice! :D I approve ..|

Gotta go with Karen Carpenter. Her voice on songs like "Superstar" and "Goodbye To Love" just blows me away.

There have been a lot of singers who have touched me including Ella Fitzgerald,Johnny Mathis,Aretha Franklin,Patsy Cline,Sam Harris, early Whitney. But the one who touches me the most when I play her music is defintely EVA CASSIDY! As someone said above her haunting voice, her simple heartfelt delivery just blows me away anytime I listen..If you get a chance listen to Eva Cassidy sing: "Over the Rainbow", "True Colors", "God Bless the Child", "Yesterday", "Imagine"."Danny Boy", "Time After Time","Fields of Gold" or "Autumn Leaves"..Alas she is no longer with us (she died young of cancer) and she never became a house hold name, but I truly believe Eva Cassidy is one of America"s greatest Vocalists that has ever recorded.
