Metta gave me permission to post this companion thread to his overrated thread.

It’s there a performer you feel doesn’t get enough credit?

For me it’s Miley Cyrus. She gets a lot of hate her her raspy voice but I think it suits the songs she sings. I’ve listened to a lot of her live performances and I’m amazed at her voice. There’s no auto tune with her.

She came very close to showing ankle, and those boys bobbing their heads like that was just filthy.

Juuuuuust kidding.

I actually enjoyed that performance. I don't usually care for C&W. I may have to find more of their stuff.

I can't answer the thread topic as I only ever happen on to stuff I like and it's rarely mainstream.

I wouldn't have thought her underrated. She's really good.

My first thought was Miley Cyrus as well. She does a great cover of Blondie's Heart of Glass and I like her performance of Nothing else Matters with Metallica.

My favorite band, Blue October.

Their lead singer and song writer can put a lot of feeling into their music. The band itself can change up their sound on their songs and make an entirely different sounding song. My favorite song of theirs is a rock song, but they have versions that make it into a romantic slow ballad, an upbeat empowering anthem, plus a few other versions.

Didn't Into the Ocean get a lot of airtime?

What little of their stuff I've heard, they seem gloomy. Depressing.

If you have an artist that you love, would you really want to wish superstardom on them?. Some musicians can handle the fame but so many have burned out. It's not just the drugs and drink, it's the whole freakshow lifestyle that damages bodies and minds. There is a level at which you can make a living doing good shows which please your fans, but still remain human, feet on the ground, with a private life. That's a happy place to be. Try to be Icarus and your wings may melt.

Hate Me is a really good song too.

I was going to list all my favorite artists, but upon consideration I find they all seem to have the proper amount of fame and acclaim.

They have had a few well known songs, but they are still a smaller band. They do travel the world, but they usually play in smaller venues. They decided to go independent so I think they like playing to smaller crowds.

And yes most of their older stuff is gloomy. The lead singer is bi-polar and what he writes reflexes what he is going through. They have always had upbeat songs though.

Pink Floyd are an excellent example. They were friends who enjoyed playing their music. Then they became rich and famous which turned them into bad tempered cynics who hated each other. Lots of money, but it did not bring any happiness.
