Gandalf has married Captain Jean Luc-Picard, or rather, the actor has officiated in his thespian friend's marriage.

Congratulation to the happy couple!

Sir Patrick Stewart has married jazz singer Sunny Ozell, in a ceremony conducted by fellow thespian Sir Ian McKellen.

The Star Trek actor, 73, announced his nuptials on Twitter, simply writing, "Yes, married" under a picture of himself and Ozell in a ball pool.

The couple have been together for five years, having met when Sir Patrick played Macbeth in Brooklyn, New York.

Sir Ian revealed his role in the ceremony to Jonathan Ross in March.

"I'm going to marry Patrick," he told the UK chat show host, before pausing and reconsidering his statement.

"How else do you put that? I am going to officiate at his wedding."

You can apply to officiate weddings in Massachusetts, and the marriage be legal. Maybe you could hire a venue, say a church, then officiate and get over the obstacle of priests who don't wanna do it. You could get a group like the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to ham it up...

I didn't know Patrick Stewart was 73! He's aged remarkably well!

Love Ian McKellen. Wonderful.

Cannot wait to see them reunited in X-men: Days of Future Past.

Now , that would have been fantastic , imagine being a guest . Sir Ian is re-known for his Wit and humour .

^ His son starred with him in an episode of Star Trek: TNG - The Inner Light. They played, of course, father and son:

^ It's the accent, I think. He doesn't do French very well. In fact, when he sings French songs in Star Trek, he sings the American version.

It's also funny to hear him say 'zee' for 'zed', yet says 'schedule' instead of 'skedule'.

BTW, do Canadians say zee or zed, or does it vary by generation (due to Sesame Street or whatever) or by province?

I think Patrick Stewart is of an age where schooling was due to more sterner teachers and at a time when discipline was enforced by the rule of the cane. I remember we still had canings at our school until the head died and a new one came in. (It was banned in 1987, if the internet is right). I think he would have done well in his subjects, like French.

Sir Patrick is a Yorkshireman. I expect he finds it difficult to mangle the English language as badly as most Americans do! ;)

I knew Patrick was straight, but he did do terrific turns as more flamboyantly gay high culture types in the movie "Jeffrey" and a guest appearance on Broadcast television with "Frasier". I remember when he married Star Trek/TNG producer Wendy Neuss after divorcing his first wife... he definitely is one who has no problem with anyone's sexuality, and is very gay friendly plus a great sport.

On his pronounciations he tends to be cultured, but he has used the flat "class" and "glass" instead of the "ah" sound... and he did use French at least once in an early season episode during a scene set in a holodeck, believe the episode was about alien computer programmers from a world where the individual brain and computers are linked who want Picard to help save their planet from catastrophe.

That was the one with the Binars, Episode 11001001. He was talking to Minuet when she responded to the introduction with French because of his name.

He also sang 'Frère Jacques' rather badly in Disaster when he was climbing out of the turbolift with the kids when they were trapped inside. He also sang Auprès de ma blonde with his brother following his abduction by the Borg and in the episode where Wesley left the series. Picard was injured and sang it in order to try to stay conscious.

(I'm not really a TNG fanatic. Just years and years of reruns.)

I loved him in Jeffrey and Frasier. I thought he did amazingly well playing a (flamboyant) gay guy.

of course we knew he loved old gay men or much too young jazz singers.

Thank you Neil... yep like you not fanatical but really do enjoy TNG episodes when I get an opportunity.. not so much now as I used to. Funny though with the Picards( Jean-Luc, Maurice, Maurice's wife Marie and their son Robert) such proper British accents for being French!
