This is incredible. I love the format of the show, where the judges are only hearing voice, not seeing who it is. Their expressions as they turn around are priceless:



Maybe she should help revise the liturgy.

nuns scare me, it's like some people with clowns...i got smacked by a nun once, so I'm not a big fan of the nun....

Singing on that sort of show whilst wearing her nun outfit is a gimmick ... if she was dressed normally there would have been no surprise when the judges turned around .. and thus she would never have made it onto the show. Most of these 'talent' shows seem focus on the freak-show element.

Again my poor Italian is stymieing my efforts. If I'm reading the Italian Wikipedia correctly, she belongs to an order that began in 1909 or so, but the English sources I can find refer to that order as having begun in the sixteenth century. To muddy the waters further, it seems there's more than one order with that name.

I did manage to make out that singing for the Voice wasn't her idea, but she was pushed/encouraged to do so by her superiors -- that's an interesting twist!

At any rate, I didn't manage to find what I was looking for: whether she's a member of one of the strict orders which do not allow "street clothes".

But from what I've read about the show, she made it on solely on the basis of her voice. Until she stepped onto that stage, no one had seen who it was singing -- for all they knew, it was some former soccer player now confined to a wheelchair. So in the future it could be regarded as a gimmick, but it couldn't have been for the show.
