my skin is starting to look like shit. (not literally) i am starting to get wrinkles. and it is not firm. does anyone have any tips on having better skin?

i am looking for ways to make it smoother, more firm, and take care of the wrinkles that are starting, and the bags under my eyes. i breakout easily so anything that can cause pimples wont work (unless any one has tips on how to counter act the side effects)

i am only 26 years old and when i look in the mirror i am starting to see the signs of age already.

I go to the grocery store. I buy an avocado, a cucumber, sour cream, and strawberries. Come home, blend it together, and that will take care of the wrinkles. FOR the bags under your eyes, you can use Preparation-H. (It sounds gross, but many celebs do it)
If you don't want to use prep-H, you can use blend cucumbers and a bit of EVOO together, and apply it under your eyes for 10 to 20 min.

Hope it helps.

Moisturize inside out. Adequate antioxidants inside out. Repair inside out. Protect inside out. Those are 4 basic principals to slow signs of ageing.

The right diet & lifestyle play just as much a part as the products you use. Going to see a dermatologist is the best idea, they can pinpoint your problems & solutions. The good news is you don't have to accept premature aging, or even skin damage, there are plenty of non-surgical things that work. Don't waste you money on super expensive skin care products, but don't buy the cheapest shit either! I use Biore shine control foaming facial cleanser, it is only $5-6 and one squirt is all you need so it's a great value and works better than anything i've ever used no matter the price. Olay Regenerist is a great moisturizer, and has a broad-spectrum sunblock which is vital.
If you smoke, that will age you FAST. Do you get too much sun, or burn easily? That will also age you faster than normal. Avoid shitty foods (red meat, anything "processed", soda, candy, anything sugary, and ANYTHING that has corn syrup) and drink several glasses of water a day, taking a bottle of water everywhere will solve that. Do you drink alcohol too much? Alcohol screws with your liver, which needs to work properly in order for you to have good skin. Do you want to look like Keith Richards?
If you are taking any medications, they can affect your skin. Stress is another factor. Nobody has a totally stess free life, but if you have stress learn how to manage it. Yoga and/or meditation will work miracles on your entire body, inside and out.
i hope this helps, but you really should go to a dermatologist. It will be the worth every cent, especially when you are in your 50's and still look flawless!

My skin stays perfect , ironic coz at the moment before i get my degree im working in a restaruant which i am around steam grease and oil , but i moisturise every now and again and drink lots of water . Does wonders. I also saw an add for a nivea mens cream that rids the bags from under your eyes , i shall be purchasing that nexst time im down town , lol i dont near enough sleep

i have heard some people say that fish oil vitamins are really good for your skin. but i looked at a bunch today and none of them said anything about skin health. are there certain ones that work for skin and ones that don't or do anyof them help you skin at all??

Fish Oil is beneficial because of its anti-oxidant properties, Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Especially important because every cigarette is an 'oxidant-bomb.'

It's a good preventive measure, but won't really do much to treat what's already there. BTW, you can get all the same benefits from Flax Oil, without the drawbacks. I have a lot of people complain about the smell and taste of Fish Oil, especially when they're belching it up for hours!. Plus, you don't have to worry about mercury levels, since Flax Oil comes from a plant, not an ocean fish. Flax Oil smells and tastes a bit like sunflower or pumpkin seeds, if you've ever had those.

I agree with many of the ideas already given ^^^. And I've added some more:

- protecting yourself from UV(which helps minimize wrinkling and the dark discoloration under eyes)
- quitting smoking (which I know you're already planning)
- good 'clean' diet
- lotsa water (shoot for 1 gallon a day)
- alcohol in moderation; resist binging as much as possible
- adequate sleep (8-10 hrs/night ideally)
- regular exercise (3-5 days/wk); it stimulates your immune and repair systems

As far as bags under your eyes, Prep-H is a good place to start, but you need to use it twice a day (morning and bedtime). If you quit, any benefit will be gone in <24 hrs. If the bags are only visible first thing in the morning, it's probably just fluid under your lower lids. Treating yourself better (see list above) will help minimize that. If you notice them all day long, it's typically caused by subcutaneous fat around your cheek and lower lid shifting (down and out).

Try this... Get a hand mirror and hold it about the level of your forehead. Hold your head still and level in a normal position and look up at the mirror. Your eyes should be up like your rolling your eyes at someone and you should be able to see yourself. Rolling your eyes up causes the under-eye fat to be pushed out. If the bags are noticeable (or more so), its skin and fat changes that can likely only be satisfactorily corrected with a procedure called a 'lower blepharoplasty.'

Now hold the mirror below your chin, hold your head level, and look down. This causes the under-eye fat to be pulled in. The bags should reduce or disappear. This is what your under eye area might look like with blepharoplasty.

Finally, consider a dermatologist, as also said ^^^. You'll get the best results for wrinkles there. If you're significantly bothered by the bags under your eyes, find a good, reputable plastic surgeon who does nothing but faces and get a consult. At least you'll know what your options are.

^^Its great to take advice from a person from the field. Just would like to add a bit about Salmon Omega. Well, Flax Seed oil contain ALA and it needs another enzyme to be converted into useable form of Omega 3 like you get from Salmon. Since you have a pass record of smoking, most likely your liver is not functioning at its peak to produce the ezyme that's responsible for the action. I would personally prefer Salmon Oil since its ready to use. Kindda like taking Beta Carotene(stored in liver and converted into A when needed) or Vitamin A(ready to be used).

What a trip... every post froma man in his 20's.

You guys kill me!

LuckOIrish said it all... genetics plays a hugh role though. I do SO many things wrong... yet rarely meet anyone my age who looks younger. When I dye my salt and pepper hair(which I never do anymore--hate the upkeep), pass for more than 10 year younger. Hell, even without a gang of guys I was hanging with on vacation last month freaked when I told them my age. They where all in their early 20's... nobody my age boards--sucks!

Ordered by my estimation of importance:
- consistent sleep schedule(tough one)
- healthy diet
- plenty of fluids
- CARDIO!!! -- at least 45min a day -- if ur lazy, best to monitor pulse to ensure you're pushing hard enough to hit your target. Target is usually easy to hit at first, but takes WAY more effort to achieve in no time <it you need extra incentive... for me cardo fitness has a HUGH effect on my sexual stamina as well>
- low stress
- alcohol moderation--too much one day is fine, but day after day is horrible!
- always wear a decent moisturizer--i use loreal daily active moisture lotion--like it 'cause just one application lasts all day-smells like old lady, but fades fast--tried WAY more expensive junk, none where as good

I also had IPL a few years ago to whack damage from the Florida sun--worked like a champ, and use a retinoid, tazarotene(avage) 3 months on / 3 months off. Avage helps in several ways, not billed as an exfoliant but has that effect, and at least for me has an overall tightening effect, smoothing fine lines. If you decide to try it, only apply every other day to start... You skin adapts to it over a week or two.

...hey, your profile says you smoke some--That's got to go man.

edit: yeah, the sun can turn you to leather... recent research says a little is actully good, kick-starting processes in your skin which destroy early forms of skin cancer, but like everything else--too much is a bad thing. I avoided the sun TOO much in my 30's and really missed volleyball and just hanging at the beach... Now days, I'm not so extreme. Just go late in the day, wear sunscreen and enjoy myself. Life is to be lived!
