I feel for you Nate. I worked at a Fortune 500 company years ago, and worked for them for 3 yrs, got a new manager, and after his reviews of my perfomace, I got a ONE CENT raise. I thought Jesus, why bother, it cost more than that for the bookkeeper to add it. I think I quit the next day! The company I am with now, we have a union contract for 5 yrs, and we get 4% the 2nd and 5th yr, with 3% on the 3rd and 4th yr. So 3 to 4% sounds standard. I'm glad you had the balls to talk to the DM. Hope all goes well in the future!

I would start looking elsewhere. Not to rub salt into the wound but I just got a 20% raise, still doing the same job, and it was prorated to the beginning of August. They felt that I was not adequately compensated at my review in August (the General Manager of the store was on a business trip when the original review was done). There is more and better out there for someone who shows initiative.

Walk away. Things will NEVER get better...

Don't forget to use the company's postal meter/stamps when you mail out your resumes.

Nope. $.14 just do not really do it. But that's the way most corps treat their workers for as long as they think they can get away with it.

Be realistic. Not emotional. Take your time and apply to as many suitable positions as you can. Make sure, you gauge your market value accurately.

If any0 offers anything more and/or better, move on right away. If not, swallow your pride and be happy with what you have at the moment.

If you feel that you can do more and better, do not hesitate. Go for it.

Thanks guys....
I do really love my job. I mean, the atmosphere and people I work with is awesome. In that I hesistate to leave only because its a super chill company. But I have a daughter and bills that I have to think about and I realize that this place just isn't going to cut it. I have created a resume and am about to start playing the market to see what is out their.
On a side note, my manager told me last night that when I told the DM that I needed to speak with him before he left the shop. His first reaction was "Oh fuck!! Is Nate quiting?" "We need him." So what I'm hoping to see is an offer come in from another company, and I go to them and inform them I'm going to be leaving cause I received an offer for x $ and I'll stay if they match it. Maybe I'll get lucky....;)
