Slaughtering of Iraqi Christians; should the U.S. military intervene?

Such as? Not saying other groups aren't important but Christians ...the U.S. is a Christian nation...They DID to the Christians in Iraq.

I have a zero tolerance policy for bullshit. And this is bullshit of the highest order. Congratulations.

The US is not and has never been a Christian nation. Don't make me explain why. It is beyond explanation if you had the willpower to research anything on the founders. And if you lack the brainpower to see why it still isn't a Christian country then I pity you. Go read the census. It's not perfect but it will give you an idea.

and the U.S. is a Christian nation

Negative.

Any time this comes up I have to revert to the old standby, the Treaty of Tripoli, which states in part:

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion

Ratified unanimously by the Senate, signed by John Adams, June 10, 1797.

SOrry, the U.S. is NOT nor will it ever be a Christian nation Rex.
And to your point about Uganda, since anti-gay bigots from the U.S. are the ones pushing these laws, they are in face responsible for what is going on over there.

Such as? Not saying other groups aren't important but Christians are the ones being persecuted most in Iraq, and the U.S. is a Christian nation who's effects on Iraq LEAD to what's happening to the people there now.

Actually you did say that they were more important as you singled them out because there have been a lot of Iraqis slaughtered since we left and when we killed Saddam we unleashed hell on a country that was relatively stable at the time under his rule. BTW....we are NOT a Christian nation.

That isn't being realistic. The U.S. is just now coming to terms with accepting gays and there is still a long way to go so the chances of that happening are not very high, and these are two completely different issues. The U.S. didn't have any cause to the persecution of gays in Uganda. They DID to the Christians in Iraq.

You are wrong. It is WELL DOCUMENTED how many US Christian and Republican leaders spent time in Uganda influencing and helping them with their legislation.

I understand what you're saying and I'm aware that Christians are sometimes the biggest hypocrites. I don't agree with Christianity being a part of U.S. politics, but this isn't a religious issue. The fact remains that the Christians in Iraq suffering has a LOT to do with the U.S.'s invasion of Iraq and Sadaam being taken out of power. That's what this is about, and that's why the U.S. should be first in line to offer support to these refugees.

I wasn't aware the U.S. had anything to do with anti gay laws in Uganda, so maybe I was misinformed.

One cynic could also point out that Christians have had no problem killings and slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people over the centuries.

Finally the U.S. is dropping bombs on those ISIS fucks. :)
