Well my fellow JUBers,

I've become slightly paranoid.

Not over the usual things that get me paranoid...You know, cars following too close behind, or wondering what that guy "Really Thinks" about me...

Where was I, oh yes.

I seem to be losing my words.

Allow me to explain, since most of you can see I'm still typing quite well.

I refer of course, to my throat.

For a very long time, since about December back while I was in Grade 12 (so about 2 and 1/2 years) my throat has been some what "delicate".

It started with a damned nasty infection, which of course was hell to go through...But ever since then, my throat has always been either very dry or very phlegm-y...(Is that a word?)

I had complained about it to my former MD, who simply stated it was "allergies" despite me not being allergic to anything that I'm aware of.

Now, for the past little while...I've been getting these funny little tingling feelings 1/2 in my throat, 1/2 in my mouth...Feels almost like something dangling off the Uvula at the back of my mouth...

That's usually followed by a dry cough and of course some rather nasty bring up.

Now, that's not what worries me. What worries me is my increasing inability to speak properly.

Most of my words, especially early in the morning, sound like a mix of Mickey Rorke and Harvey Fierstein....

And then when that passes I just have this damned tingle..

So, what the heck am I supposed to do? Should I see a different MD and get a second opinion...Or is this something that will eventually clear itself up?

This should really be checked out - not happy with that 'dry tickle and cough' thing. Go see a different GP/MD a second opinion can never hurt.

Sounds serious enough you should get a second opinion,if it's causing those problems, just to be safe, you should seriously get this checked. It seems unusual to be nothing but an allergy, especially when you say you don't have any you're aware of.

May I suggest a throat specialist, if you have insurance check with them, you might need a referal from your MD. But do get it checked out!!

Get a second opinion. adidas mentions a good alternative. Post nasal drip or undiagnosed allergies are some of the possible alternatives. A second opinion and a couple of exams should clarify the diagnosis. Best of luck.
The Harvey Fierstein voice might be a plus for a local production. Are you into theater?

I had the same problem.. went to an eye, ear, nose and Throat specialist who referred me to an alergist and they found the problem.

nothing to worry about at all.. but treat it early.

Are you being treated for Acid Reflux? Taking any acid inhibitors, like prilosec or others?

I had a patient not long ago (I'm only a nurse) have very similar problems, turned out she had an inflamed esophagus from the acid reflux.

PLEASE, do get it checked out..
I agree it could also be alergies..

I go along with what adidas has mentioned and think the idea of an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor might be a great idea.

Let a specialist see what is going on. You are living in new surrounds, city, home, school, and maybe something is present that enjoys annoying you .

Either your own doctor or may be the health clinic at your university might have some referrals for you.

"An acting voice" is fine for the stage and your fans, but in your personal life you may want to project a different persona - who does not drip or ???.

Take care of yourself - we are concerned about your well being.(*8*)

The votes are in - - - - see a specialist - take care of yourself - - - you are needed

I can't help but agree with the sentiments across this thread... Go See Another Doctor! A referral to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist is in order.

We want you here all healthy. ;)
