Re: Slight Proof Limbaugh Will Do Antyhing to Prove Obama Hates America

A humor blog posts a fake Obama thesis claiming it is the real thing and Rush Limbaugh reports on it as a fact.

Proof once again that one should always check their sources before proclaiming a news item is in fact, fact.

Better news organizations have been fooled by fakery, so its not suprising.

Journalism has become a shame and slander profession. The moment 'news' became 'entertainment', I stopped watching.

Let's think of this as a simple school paper. If I had turned this report into my professor and he fact checked it and saw that I fabricated it up, I would probably get a zero for the assignment or even fail the course.

Of course, I am doubtful he will actually apologize for reporting Faux news (pun intended). It is one thing to be arrogant (which most of the neo-Cons are) but there is no shame in admitting you were wrong. It just makes you look like a fool to blame someone else for your own problem.

We have no accountability anymore, a holdover from the Bush days. Nothing is ever our own fault, it is that of everyone else.

I would have more respect for people if they copped to the error. Instead we get finger pointing and I get less interested in watching any news for fear they're getting their information from random online sources and trying to play it off as factual.

Oh that isn't a relic from the Bush years, that's been going on for centuries. We just hear about it sooner thanks to the internet and cable television.

Whoever posted the audio clip in that link, deleted the part immediately afterward, when Rush played a recording where Obama states that "the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and economic justice in this society. It wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution."

That audio sound-bite from a 2001 Chicago Public Radio Interview
can be found on YouTube here:

So Limbaugh is correct in stating that even if Obama never wrote a thesis stating his feelings the the U.S. Constitution had placed constraints on economic freedom, it is what Obama thinks.

government throughout history have discovered, once the sacrifice and
surrender of rights has begun, the march toward tyranny becomes inexorable."

Ned, first of all, you paraphrased what Obama said and, therefore, it is inaccurate to present it as a quote. Second, you and Rush Limbaugh completely misunderstood what Obama was saying. He is not saying that the Constitution placed restraints on economic freedom, it placed restraints on the ability of courts to redistribute wealth or enact economically redistributive legal remedies. He says later in the interview that people should look to the legislative branch to enact those types of changes, not the courts.

I piece I read yesterday about this incident said that the blog that originally posted the story said that it was a satire. Not a whole lot of fact-checking necessary to see that it was a fake.

A reputable news person like Dan Rather might check into a satire blog a bit more carefully than others. I mean news people are here to report news. Extremists are here to cause panic in the masses who don't know any better.

And this little story is further proof that they'll go to whatever means necessary to prove they are right.

Then how exactly do you explain the fact that Rather was fired for airing a story based on a completely fake document for the sole purpose of bringing down candidate Bush? ..|

Seems to me he was pretty dead on as far as bringing to light how wrong Bush was for our country.

And he apologized for airing the story when it was found that it was false.

Limbaugh will never apologize for his tactics. He loves creating a shitstorm and then hiding behind others.

Ah so you're excusing him using a completely phony document because of your (and his) dislike for Bush? The fact of the matter is is that one of the largest news organizations in the nation aired a story based on a document that anyone that owned a computer could have told them was fake.

And despite his apology, Rather STILL refuses to acknowledge that he was completely and totally in the wrong, and that the document was indeed a fake.

Limbaugh probably did research it til he found it a hoax and then ran with it like he believed it. I wouldn't put anything past him.

^^^ the sad part about this is that it is not just rush who does this..... both major political parties do this...and even worse people do it on a daily basis...(and not that i havent been the kettle at times)...but just because someone does wrong to you...doesnt mean you stoop to their level and be wrong yourself....its quite disgusting....

"When you go to shake a gay man's hand and he turns his back to you, that's not a dismissal, it's an invitation."

- Rush Limbaugh

Goes to show Rush does little to back up his stories.

We know one thing we never see Rush Limbaugh's thesis. He quit college at Cape Girardeau Mo his home town. He blames his instructors for failing college.
