I'm a smoker and had enough people telling me to quit. I never intend to quit in the near future. There are other things I have to worry about, and besides, we don't live forever.

Oh and if you smoke pot or the one or other cigarette you are a smoker, so no cheating.

I don't smoke but being around people who do doesn't bother me one bit. Both of my parents were smokers and one of my roommates smokes, although she smokes outside. It's just kind of the norm around here for everyone to go outside for a cigarette.

I used to smoke pot but I don't anymore. Haven't smoked the stuff in years, although some of my friends do.

I smoke. I know I should stop, but I like it. Everytime someone tells me I should quit it just makes me want to keep doing it just to piss them off.

Smoker over here

I've tried quitting like 5 times in as many months. Oh, well.

You know they say one cigarette takes 7 mins off your life. Well, did anyone consider that maybe I didn't want to live a full life?

And those 7 mins are coming off of what I would describe as 'the diaper years.' So I'm saving my children the indignity of wiping my ass.

Keep trying. i have a quit date set for Friday the 2nd. It is gonna be a bitch but I want to and it is like my tenth time so maybe it will stick

I am glad I don't smoke and don't much care for being around those who do.

WOW there are a lot of smokers out there!? [-X
so tell me, what are some of the laws of public smoking where you guys live? All bars and restaurants and workplaces are smoke free in my city (I THINK?). But for now its just on city by city basis. But is Saskatchewan its smoke free province wide. YEA SASKATCHEWAN! I am a non-smoker.

The village that holds my favourite pub and restaurant (diff places) went non-smoking. It's not a problem when I go to eat, as I usually have a smoke at the bar before and after the meal.

Now the pub, on the other hand, it killing me. But we've turned the downstairs into a sort of speak-easy. =]

It'll just cascade as one region lobbys the neighbours to ban smoking too so they don't loose business.

Oh, and there's a couple of municipalities that have rescinded the smoking ban for the day of the Super Bowl so it doesnt interfere with making money.

It's all about the money. And I wonder where the hell was the tobacco lobby when Cook County decided to ban smoking. Argh.

And another thing, if smoking is SOOOOOOO bad for everyone, should we not just ban tobacco? Hunh, hunh? Oh, I see, too logical.

There was a local mayor who, along with the smoking ban, outlawed tobacco sales in his town. Why? Because it made sense! The smoking ban didn't last too long there.

I smoke. I started again this spring after quitting for 2 years I plan on quitting again soon, Quebec is a smoke free province as of last May 31 no indoor smoking anywhere. Not even smoking rooms in bars NOWHERE!

Guilty. Look, if everyone quit, who would support the tobacco farmers? They can't exist on federal agricultural subsidies alone! And what about health care? I need to support the hospitals, staff, research...Quit?! What will I do with my 18 kt gold Dunhill lighter? Oops, my nicotine alarm just went off - time to go out in the blizzard since I don't smoke in my own house.

I quit on November 6, 2005. This is my 6 or 7th time I quit. The first time I quit I was off cigarettes for 3 1/2 years. I don't crave them at all anymore... and I smell much better these days.

Smoked for almost 30 years, and when I quit 10-11 years ago, I was up to 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 packs a day! Smoked BOTH Marlboro Light 100's and More Menthol 100's....I liked switching back and forth. First thing in morning was to "light up" ....always before coffee or anything else. At age 50, I knew they were killing me and in the mid 90's, they kept making it seem criminal and downright assinine to be a smoker.......when flying it was a bitch to find a place to smoke, etc. And the NicoDerm Patch really worked! My first day quitting (I picked a day weeks in advance) I waited 6 hours (after 6 hours I would get a "Nicotine Fit"), put on my very first patch, and within 10 minutes I felt the relaxing sensation of Nicotine in my system! I was convinced the patches worked from the very first day! I wore the patch in ever smaller sizes (just use scissors to cut them smaller) for about six weeks before not needing them any longer. I did not like wearing the patch to bed .....gave me very weird dreams, but I would take that day's patch off, replacing it on the foil backing on my night table, then upon wakening, put yesterday's patch back on, then after morning shower, would put on a new patch.

It takes 21 days to break ANY habit.

Whenever I saw a smoker, I would take a very deep breath, and say to myself how great it was to be a Non Smoker!

They say "Once A Smoker, Always A Smoker".............and to this day I know I could easily fall back......but I have lost a job and lost a lover....and have not had a single puff since 1996.

Today I am 60 and still a Non Smoker..........and love it that my home, clothes and car do NOT reek with the smell of cigarettes.

And my friends that smoke..............I find myself cutting my visits short with them because I do not like the sore throats, runny eyes and stinking clothes. And some have beautiful and very expensive homes, but everything has a very dull yellow tint...........not at all appealing and they stink!

In hindsight, smoking was probably the single most STUPID THING I EVER DID!

Just Do It! Do It For Yourself! Do It For Your Friends & Family! QUIT SMOKING!

They're trying desperately to ban smoking in bars here. I think it's ridiculous.

Yes, I agree with not smoking in most public places and even restaurants, anywhere kids go, especially. But in bars? That's just nuts.

The bar I go to still allows smoking because the ban (for bars) hasn't been completely enforced yet, although they're trying. But Mike, the guy who owns the bar, said that even if they enforce it he will still let people smoke and will deal with the fines if and when he's busted. However, he's kind of got the law on his side... he's very good friends with many of the local cops (in fact several of them come in there to drink just about every weekend) and they've 'vowed' to leave Mike's customers alone.

I won't kiss a smoker.

Cigarettes are fucking gross.....One of my biggest turnoffs.

this is just an IMO statement but of all the people i've known the smoker's are more 'the fun people' to be around and yes, i'm a smoker. i don't think you should start smoking to be a fun person though, it's a terrible habit.

Well that's kind of odd. I have friends that are both smokers and non and they're all fun to be around.

I don't smoke but I and most of my non-smoking friends agree that smoking in bars shouldn't be banned.

Now they're thinking of banning smoking in apartments and condos. Or saying smokers, even though they're outside, can't smoke within so many feet of a building. Or that they can't even smoke in their cars.

Come on, people.... how far is this going to go? If they can't even smoke outside or in their own cars or homes, what the hell's next? Don't you see the path this is taking? People are losing their freedoms. At unreasonable prices.

Like I said, I agree with not smoking in restaurants and most public places. But in bars? And cars? And homes? And even outside if you're standing within so many feet of a particular building?

Come on.
