I just read that, when smoked, Nutmeg is a hallucinogen like LSD. Who knew?!

Good googledy goop. Who would fuckin try that?

um, ok, i've heard this, but...really....do you know how much nutmeg you'd have to consume? (and no, you needn't smoke it, from what i've heard) you'd get sick before you began to trip. And it would undoubtedly be nothing like old-school lsd or some nice common large psilocybe. you might as well ignore the instructions about set and setting, and take hallucinogens to party instead of doing serious spiritual work.....

or chug some cough syrup for the dextromothorphan. yuck.

If you're going to do this, (and I can't really recommend it)
Buy some empty plastic capsules in your nearest drug store, there's no need to
taste it...

You'll need about 4 tablespoons worth, and you're in for a cheap 'stepped on'
high....and a whopper of a stomach ache.

Try it if you must, but I doubt you'll try it a second time.

I ground three nuts and then took off my glasses and walked around. I might also have smoked a lot of pot, but it did seem to work...

This fellow tried it:

Hmm, I read each of those stories. Some say it sucked (effects more like the flu than anything else) and others said they LOVED it.

Maybe I'll try it.

Apparently, I was told by this pagan guy that I know that smoking the dried brown skins of peanuts will set you off on one.

And some of the side effects sounds frightening and dangerous...

Effects: Possible nausea during first hour; may cause vomiting or diarrhea in isolated cases. Takes anywhere from one to five hours for effects to set in. Then expect severe cottonmouth, flushing of skin, severely bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils. Personally I compare it to a very, very heavy hash buzz. "Intense sedation". Impaired speech and motor functions. Hallucinations uncommon in average (5-10 gm) doses. Generally followed by long, deep, almost coma-like sleep (expect 16 hours of sleep afterward) and feelings of lethargy after sleep. May cause constipation, water retention. Safrole is carcinogenic and toxic to the liver.

An overdose of nutmeg can be fatal.
- Forensic Sci Int 2001 Apr 15;118(1):87-90 -- Nutmeg (myristicin) poisoning--report on a fatal case and a series of cases recorded by a poison information centre. -- Stein U, Greyer H, Hentschel H.

High dosage can cause bizarre behavior and visual, auditory, and tactile hallucinations along with nausea, gagging, hot/cold sensations, and blurred vision followed by numbness, double, and "triple" vision, headache, and drowsiness.
- J Toxicol Clin Toxicol 2000;38(6):671-8 -- Toxicology of nutmeg abuse. -- Sangalli BC, Chiang W.

This was a WAY too high dose for me. If the house would have caught fire, I would have had NO CHANCE to get out. I was glued to my bed. Nutmeg forced me to stay in bed for over 30 hours straight. I was really calm the entire ‘trip’, so I got out of if quite easy. But if I wasn’t that calm the trip would have been hell. I am going to try it again, but this time with half of what I had now. This was the most powerful thing I have ever done. USE AT EXTREME CAUTION!! You don’t want to end up in your bed the entire weekend. Or at the hospital!

Is it worth the risk?
