Can you imagine, getting up in the middle of the night
and going into the bathroom to see this crawling along the wall?

I'm assuming that the head was cut off -
what a horrible-looking creature...

I think I'd leave the lights on for a few weeks after seeing that.

"Duan Qiongxiu, 66, said she discovered the reptile clinging to the wall of her bedroom with its talons in the middle of the night. 'I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw,' said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China."

Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol.

The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China's West Normal University in Nanchang.

I hate snakes, but not as much as I hate ugly looking frogs!! o.o

to me it seems like that snake ate some sort of lizard, and the lizard was trying to get out o.0, but who knows there r some pretty strange creatures out there in the world

I guess this is what happens when people dump industrial waste all over the place. jk, well...err..maybe not.

Wow is that the only picture, I want to see it next to an object for size reference because even though they gave a description I can't picture that thing using its claw....

I love snakes! When I was a kid I was the only person in my family that would hold one at the animal center.

PS: OMG the dinosaurs are coming back!

I wonder what's up with the snake having claws.Looks like at some point during their evolution they must have had them..

Sure. Some still even have the rudimentary bones. I've also heard there are snakes with claws that slide out of their skin to facilitate mating.

I don't believe it was clinging to the wall with that claw.

and this is in the "Hot Topics" because....l0l

i hate snakes... it all happend in my childhood years...and the accident.. buh! i dont even wanna bore you fine ppl with my story, but i absolutely hate them l0l now i cant sleep..but i was warned so its my fault..

ugly looking reptile

I don't think it was clinging to the wall, but rather, pulling itself along the floor against the wall. The lady said she heard the claws scraping as it worked itself along the wall. Seeing a snake in the bathroom would be terrible enough, but to see (and hear) that nasty looking claw... (shudder)

sliiiiiide... skritch skritch
sliiiiiiiiiide skritch skritch skritch

because of the buldge in the snakes body, it looks like it had a hernia where what it swallowed ruptured past it's internal wall. I would have never thought though that it's skin would be that elastic and not rip.

I hate when articles don't point out the obvious, what did the autopsy find? That would explain the claw.

Absolute proof of evolution, in the same way that human kids being born with tails is. Snakes were once footed and clawed creatures and some still have the vestigial bones in their skeletons...a little mutant gene expression and there it is again.

But of course no fundie will believe it...I'd love for them to explain how it's the work of an intelligent designer, but we'll never get to hear that gem. Maybe the intelligent designer gets high sometimes, or bored.

I'm guessing that "bulge" is a rupture, like Spencer said. Remember, the woman beat it to death with her shoe. The article says the snake was about the thickness of a little finger, so that's probably what that thick area is, a rupture.
