I think you are equating movies with scenes. IE: the difference between a production Falcon film and a 15-20min fuck scene from Jake Cruise or whatever.

When I've previous mentioned my enjoyment of acting in addition to story, I mean it in the context of movies that set out to deliver a scrip, storyline, etc.

However, I do agree that more 'realness' in scenes is desirable. I like that too. But when a production film gets a bunch of actors who are clearly professions that just suck at their jobs, than it is a real turn off: that kind of in-between "I'm a pro, I just can't act" vs. "I'm am armature and legitimately nervous".

So, to recap my opinion: acting professionals in film-based movies = good. Amateur in scenes acting like amateur = good. Professionals in film-based movies acting like amateur = bad.

He can't get "better acting" or "less dialogue" or "more kissing."

By the time the editor gets the footage, it's too late to add "acting" or "kissing " or "dialogue."

what advice you can give the editor....

- try not to do those 3-minute static shots of a closeup of anything. It gets old.

- Try to cut back and forth between action and facial expression.

- don't edit out the talking.

- try to make a note of where people's hands, feet, body parts are... if you're cutting to a shot that was done 30 minutes later, if there's no continuity... people will notice.

The kissing thing seems to be part of a larger issue all porn seems to miss the boat on. When you're having sex with someone, you're generally looking in their eyes, not staring at their asses. More facial reactions is something all porn should use more of. I freely admit the kissing in the work I do ads a passion that is generally lacking via the sex alone.

You're advice leads me to the notion of something that seems to be a problem with ALL porn. One camera shooting works, but it doesn't allow for much creative room in shooting. Really its a budget issue, but if two cameras were used it seems all porn could be improved.

While I have no control over acting and other such stuff, if I'm ever in a position on set and can make a difference, I will certainly try. Thanks.
