  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

So, depression and suicide are NOT hot topics.

I am very confused on why these RW threads weren't merged in HT instead of being sent to Celebrity. Seems to sweep the circumstances of RW's death under the rug.

And if the MODS want to start out getting things into the right place they can move the "CO&R" threads now in HT to CO&R. And they can move the "CEP" threads in HT to CEP. And so on.

If the thread was moved, or merged, it may be due to similar content. However, discussions do move forward and change the rest of the thread.

The thread started in Hot Topics was, by far, the most popular, and there was considerable discussion about Robin and his career, and a great deal of discussion about what might have driven him to take his own life. That thread went beyond the death of an amazing comedian. It delved into depression, suicide, drug and alcohol addiction, rehab, and much, much more. To lump in into a forum where male celebrity sexuality is discussed and flaunted is something of a travesty. If it had to be moved, wouldn't the 'Entertainment' forum have been a better choice?

I mean, where it is now, I'm rather waiting for someone to beg for some nude fakes of Robin. That's what goes on in that forum.

Seeing as the original thread went deeper than just Robin Williams, I see no reason for it to have been moved, just because he was a celebrity, when there are SO MANY OTHER celebrity threads in Hot Topics. At this point, I don't know what qualifies.

I assume it is when MODs get bored, they just move random threads where they "should" be.

Don't worry I am sure someone in the Daddy section will have made some already

Why can't the same subject be discussed in two different forums? One (HT) is a 'general' discussion, the other is to some degree 'informed' or 'specialised'.

This is the reason they have various forum sections, so the correct topics can be placed appropriately.

While this is a very important subject, not just due to the latest tragic event of Robin Williams, cuz this affects many, and is a serious illness. So why not post them in the category that it is,

Health N Wellbeing. Even if you make the post in this category, it's still going to show up.

I see it being a --->>Hot Topic

But a hot topic in the H/W category, otherwise why did they make all the categories in the forum section.

Precisely.

More than likely, because H&W is a no flame zone. If people shared their depression/suicide experiences here they're open targets.

This is why, as well. In the H&WB Forum, they don't dramatize the shit out of things.

Just because a serious topic involves a celebrity doesn't mean it belongs in the celebrity forum. Nor, because it involves well-being, does it necessarily belong in the H&WB forum.

In fact, moving such a thread from here seems to me a lot like the very cruel common approach to suicide, i.e. to hide it, pretend it isn't there.

1. What...???

2. Moving a thread is perfectly fine. This is the reason there are so many Forum titles. People need to realize there are different headings.

The only reason people start threads in HT is because they seek (and probably, desperately NEED) attention from total strangers on a gay porn website. Total...strangers...on...a...gay...porn...website.

Difficult to ascertain why so many seek attention from total strangers on a porn website...

But that's the point. It WASN'T placed properly when it was merged with a much shorter thread in the male celebrity forum. That is for porn. It's for drooling and fantasising over male celebrities. It's for talking about how hot or how hung or how their butts smell or what they look like naked and so on and so on. Robin's story of depression and suicide is wasted there. There are other forums the thread could have been moved to, but the male celebrity forum isn't it.

I don't really understand why it was moved - there are plenty of unmoved discussions on celebrity deaths on H/T (I am sure Lauren Bacall has one right now), but this was especially was more than that - it was a chance for people to speak about their own experiences of depression openly for once. Now we could move it to health and wellbeing but that is a fairly fringe sub forum that gets very little notice from posters (rightly or wrongly) and having a big decision openly for us all was probably a good thing. Pretty much outside of this H/T, H/W, CE&P, and CO&R it's either dead or porn.

Keeping it here would not have been a problem - it would no doubt have died by now or soon anyway sadly. Moving it to a porn section is just straight up bizarre. Either the mods need to up there work and move absolutely everything to there right sections and make sure people follow those rules, thus meaning all the sub forums get action going on, or they should just let busy threads stay.

From the looks of it the thread looks abandoned over there. He's a celebrity, but under these circumstances the thread should have been left in HT.

The problem is that threads very rarely get moved and there are plenty of other topics that could and should be moved into their proper forums, but they're not. It seems every once in a while a thread is moved to a specific forum for no rhyme or reason.

Hot Topics is a general forum for things and Robin Williams Death is definitely a "Hot Topic" as well as the discussion of depression, suicide and abuse problems.

I don't understand what this has to do with anything other then trying to make a snide remark to the people who generally post in the forum.

Funny, I can say the same thing about the Celeb forum that YOU frequent all the time, because nothing says "seeking attention" like sharing the lust of the hive mind. And that rings 100% in the Show Yourself Off forum, where mostly everyone "just turned" 18 or is "straight/curious, but please talk about how big and beautiful my dick is... I mean, you'll never get to touch it but I REALLY wanna know that gay men like just my dick!".

So, you know, maybe it's not so difficult to see why people - like you, for instance - seek so much attention from total strangers on a gay porn website. That YOU signed up for.

Indeed. Only 5 posts since it was moved last evening, and one of those posts questioned why it was moved in the first place.

I keep forgetting that HT is supposedly SFW, so discussion - no matter how tepid - of depression and suicide is verboten.

Fill the Forum with NSFW butt shots then.

yea i was wondering about Robin Williams mind before he took his own life.
He had wife, kids and money, what more did he want ?
I am so pleased for you that you clearly have absolutely no experience of depression (either as a sufferer or as a friend of one).

There is so much more I could say on this subject but JUB is really not the place to post anything aother than utter trivia.

Are there enough mods doing the job at the moment, i only see about 3-4 of them reguarly.

I can imagine it's a pretty thankless and tiring task most days, not a surprise that they make a mistake now and again.

Once again i put my name forward for the mod board.

By my observation we only have 3 MODS actually modding to any noticeable degree: Kara, opinterph and Seasoned. The others appear pensioners.

HT is not a serious forum. The aforementioned topics are and shouldn't be exposed to its levity. Granted this is the most viewed forum and that is the reason so many decline to post in the others, but I have never abused it in that way. Others shouldn't either.

Agreed. Out of interest, would you describe CE&P as a serious forum?

HT is not a serious forum. ....

I disagree. I've been in many serious discussions in HT - and quite often they're ones that should have been moved to CEP.

As for "suicide/depression," HT is really the only place to have a general (not specific to any member) discussion.
