....while my co-worker was at lunch today. The first was from the hospital in Boston. They want to see me tomorrow (the first time I have had an appointment set up the next day), and it is in the Neurosurgery Department with a different Doctor than I have seen before. I know this is about my Thallium Spec test, and I am assuming that since it is not with my Neurologist they saw something that we need to address. I have not said anything to my family at this time for two reasons. The first is that my oldest sister is going in the hospital on the 1st for surgery. If I say anything to her she will postpone her procedure. You see, she is only 5'5" tall. When she started to have children the 1st was 9lbs, the 2nd was 10lbs and the last one was just a few ounces shy of 11lbs. Having large children apparently plays havoc with the bladder so hers needs to be lifted and put in a sling (YUCK!!!) to eliminate the pain she has been in for the past couple of years.
The second call was from a collection agency for the hospital.
Once again she recommended that I take a loan against my 401K (which will not even come close to paying off the hospital). I lost it with her. I told her that she should be careful WHAT she SUGGESTS to people. I told her that I knew that as a result of HIPA she had no idea what these bills were for, but for someone diagnosed with lung cancer with associated Brain Mets, her suggestion was extremely offensive and insensitive and that I will be speaking with the accounts manager at the hospital as well as her supervisor. I told her that she is to conduct all contact by mail and not to call me again. I got the mailing address and have already written the notice to that effect and will drop it in the mail tomorrow.
Now that I have vented I feel better about the Collection, but I am still a little freaked about the appointment tomorrow. I will post an update on this thread tomorrow.
