  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

So, I get two phone calls at work.....

Good luck mate. Sorry about the insesitive capitalist twats bothering you. We are very lucky in the uk that even though the health care system is inefficient and very expensive to the country as a whole, at least it is "free" at the point of service. IE when you need it, so at the time you least need to worry about cost, you don't have to.

I am hoping that whatever the news is for you that there is a positive solution. Stay strong my friend. (*8*)

Bunch of bastards.

Makes you appreciate the NHS in Britain no matter what state its in.

Best of luck on the appointment, Peg.

I don't get the whole collection agency bit. If they know your resources and they know the bill at the hospital, they must know that they are not going to get it. I'm with the "ignore them" crowd on this one.

As promised, here is the update....

The Thallium Spec was inconclusive but concerning. The lesion or necrotic tissue has slightly increased in size. So tomorrow the 30th I will be on the 4:45am bus to Boston. I will have a CT Scan done at 7:30 and at 9:30 they are going to do a needle biopsy of the mass. This will be accomplished by bore a small hole in my skull and getting a sample with a small needle. They will biopsy the tissue in the O.R. and if it is necrotic, we are done. If it is an active tumor then they will remove it. I will be in the hospital one night and if I pass the therapist's test I can come home on Thursday with a possible return to work on Friday. We shall see what the future holds for me...

Collection isn't interested in sensitivity, collection is interested in getting their money, period.

You do have the right to complain though it may not improve things.

I hope the appointment isn't one of those out of left field thingies. You've enough on your plate to deal with. (*8*)

He's right about the collection agency they want their money and they will keep calling you baciclly the only thing you can do is when they say the words collection is hang up Oh and good luck with the doctors

Stevie,

Stay strong and keep your resolve and know that ALL of JUB's with you in spirit and together we ALL can whip this bitch!

Hang in there my friend and think good, positive thoughts...(*8*)(*8*):kiss:

All the words of encouragement and support just seem so inadequate in this situation. Just know that you have been in my thoughts for a long time and will continue to be there.

Hello, I am back from the hospital. I went Wednesday and they performed the needle biopsy (I will spare the gorey details of the prep). The biopsy was inconclusive as they were finding both necrotic tissue and active cancer cells. The surgeon said there is the remote possibility that the cancer cells are developing but going into a necrotic state. So I am going back in on the 7th and they are going to remove all of it, tentatively. They are going to stain the biopsy tissue and see if they can find out. Personally, I want the shit out of there. I am feeling pretty good right now but that is probably a combination of the oxy-codone and the steriods.

I will say that I look quite the sight right now. I have two band aids just above my eyebrows (which make me look rather surprised in a bad drag kinda way) and those are for the sores that the frame they bolted my head to left. I also have matching marks on the back of my head. Then on the right side of the back of the head I have a bandage that runs from my neck to just below the crown. From the front, looking in the mirror, it almost looks as if I have a piece of toilet paper stuck to my head instead of my shoe. I am going upstairs now the take clean rag in scrub off the over-flow of betadine solution that makes it look like I have a bloody mess back there.

On the lighter side, I woke up with the headache from hell. They tried percocet and nothing, an injection of morphine, a second injection of morphine, still nothing. All of this was over the course of 1 1/2 hours. The nurse said that should have been enough to stop a small horse. I told her that explained it because I'm nothing but a big jack-ass. I thought she was going to pee herself. She left for about 5 minutes and came back with another syringe and said it was dilaudid. Within 10 minutes I was totally pain free. I haven't felt bliss like that in quite some time.

I haven't posted much to your threads, but I do read them and I am thinking of you. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Best wish prayers are coming your way.

I appreciate the update. I do not envy your ordeal at all.

...where in the brain is the necrotizing tissue/possible active cancer?

I have a piece of toilet paper stuck to my head instead of my shoe.

You're going to have a heck of a time claiming your "wide stance" caused that.

Seriously, it's great to hear you have such a good attidude about all this. I don't know that I could maintain your grace and aplomb.

The right cerabellum

That's a wide area. I guess what I was asking is, do you know if the tissue is question does anything "in particular"?

...and this might not be a helpful question; it's more out of curiosity for me (probably trying to squirm out of my discomfort with the whole idea of skull-drilling etc.)

anyway, hope you're well today.

Sorry, actually the cerabellum is a smaller part of the brain and is located at the base of the skull.

The Treasure at the Bottom of the Brain

by Henrietta C. Leiner and Alan L. Leiner

One of the most impressive parts of the human brain, named the cerebellum, has been underestimated for centuries. Located at the lower back of the brain, it is a fist-sized structure whose function is now being reappraised. Formerly this structure was thought to have only a motor function, which it performed by helping other motor regions of the brain to do their work effectively. But during the past decade a broader view of its function has emerged as a result of new research, and now the cerebellum is regarded as a structure that can help not only motor but also nonmotor regions to do their work effectively. In fact, the cerebellum has been compared to a powerful computer, capable of making contributions both to the motor dexterity and to the mental dexterity of humans, both of which are required for the emergence of fluent human language.

man I got my brain anatomy quite confused!

...my dad had a cerebellar stroke a couple of years back. evidently, if you're going to have a stroke, that's a pretty good place to have one. so maybe the same for a small area of nectrotizing tissue.

Hang in there Pegasus...and know that you are on my mind and in my prayers!

As for the hospital...are they a Hill-Burton financed hospital? If so, they have a requirement to provide a certain percentage of uncompensated care each year as part of their low cost loans.

Next time tell the collector that you are about to give her a piece of your mind and make it the tumor!
