Hey Kids,
Some of you may remember a while back I was thinking of leaving my easy, yet boring and so so paying job as a yard driver and taking a local driving gig..
Well,I was offered the job(where I needed advise on how to dress for the interview) but I didn't take it.The commute was too far,and the corporate culture seemed a bit oppressive..
I did however, apply for and accepted a position with another outfit about 10 miles from my house. It promises to pay substantially more, but I'm not wild about the hours.I start tonight and my first run with them rolls out at 0300..
I will be driving from Pa,to points in Upstate New York, and Western Mass.-Maryland and an occasional Ohio trip..No sleeping in the truck and I'll be home everyday.Weekends off at the house..Mostly drop and hook, the same customers everyday. Not bad.About as good as it will ever likely get driving a truck.
It's not my dream job of driving a daycab on I-81 (usually easy traffic) from 10 am to 6 pm, but what the hell.I think, once I get used to the shitty hours,It'll be ok.The extra money will be nice too..

it may not be your dream job, but home every night, good pay, no sleeping in the truck and weekends off sounds like it makes up for some of the stuff you're not getting.
