It's funny, y'know - I develop a reputation for compassion and wisdom with (at least one of) you guys, but I KNOW I've been downright rude and dismissive of others. Just two weeks ago I told someone to fut the shuck up.

I LIKE to think I'm the biggest dick/douchebag here, but all too often another poster spoils the moment for me.;)

And I DO get ram's 22 cents, sort of (Damn it Ram, stay outta my closet!) I project as much confidence on JUB as I project outside, but it IS as much a projection here as it is out there.

Pay no attention to the little man behind the curtain!

I cry and whimper at home alone, but I refuse to display a weak spot for chickens to peck on. Chickens are bloodthirsty animals, and I'm not referring to the ones with feathers.

The "main thrust" of this thread, was, I thought,
gays being so bad to other gays,

then, like OZ's kangaroos - it morphs in leaps and bounds into something else.

I've done the Myers-Briggs thing - many many times, I've done days and days of "Men and Women" at work -
both deal with how we communicate with others -- with the emphasis on - everybody does not think the same as you ! So you have to know more about"how they process information" in order to "get thru to them"

and men and women do not work well together for many of the same reasons -- and the men win - because they support each other far more than women support each other.

and now - we have the gay/straight issues which, 20 years ago never existed. and while the gameplan was kinda supposed to be us against them -- the ref's keep throwing penalty flags up - because the gays are busy with their infighting - as it were. instead of using their knowledge and strength (as a group) to work against the opposition.

have to go - there's some BBQ chicken on the grill calling to me....

I've oft maintained that if the entire human population was wiped out except for three gay guys, the very first thing that would happen is that two of them would get together to talk smack about the third one. :)

There are those who believe that they're being all kinds of amazing when they act dickish. They're "straight-shooters". They "don't pull punches". They're "telling it like it is, and if you can't handle it, it's clear the problem lies with you and your inability to deal with reality". They often posit themselves as being "a breath of fresh air" to the stilted and boring politeness of messageboards, but most of us who have been around awhile know that the air that comes from assholes is rarely considered "fresh".

Oh, I KNOW I'm an asshole. I don't pretend I'm doing anything more here than pretending to be intelligent. It's something I'm incapable of in real life. In fact, feel free to ask the OP about our real-life meeting. :)

I've honestly never thought of you as dickish. The gargoyle doth protest too much, methinks. Yes, you can be ruthlessly frank, but you always seem to remain civil. Or maybe I'm a dick, and my definition of civility is everyone else's definition of dickish behavior.
 
Let's just say there are plenty of independent witnesses to the encounter to say that my description above is probably an accurate one. He WAS actually very friendly and welcoming, but he did get somewhat unhappy at my behavior at, and observations on, the get-together. And that's not uncommon. I think people tend to get the impression via the internet that I'm a friendly, wise creature...and then they find that in real life that I'm exceptionally tough to penetrate, quite uncouth, and pretty slow on the uptake. And many people say as you do - "Oh, you're just saying that". And then they meet me, and think "Boy, you ARE kind of a dumb asshole, aren't you?" :)
