I was just watching MTV Hits, a music channel that plays nothing but music videos. I know a lot of people hate MTV because they don't play music that often anymore so this channel seemed like a cool idea since it's nothing but music videos.

Turns out every artist they freakin' play is a teen pop-hip hop marketing tool piece of trash. Seriously... I can't stand any of them.

I was watching/listening to the music while I was cooking. Lemme see if I remember everyone they played.

Hmm first I think it was this new song by Rihanna. God she's horrible. She's had some OK songs thanks to guest appearances or the production but this bitch cannot sing. A perfect example of someone who got a record deal based on looks alone.

Then was a song by Chris Brown. This turd annoys me to no end. He's not that good of a singer and his stupid ass following of teeny bopper dumb ass teenage girls is just another reason to hate him.

Then I think it was Gym Class Heros. The song was "Clothes Off". This is an OK song but I'm sure it's a cover. I still can't stand their stupid ass skater image and the lead singer is one ugly piece of shit.

Even Snoop Dogg annoys me now. The music industry is such shit these days. I used to be a huge rap/hip hop fan but now it's all trash.

Does anyone feel the same way and to make this thread more open, who in the music industry do you despise? Like, who really can you not stand?

Think of MTV Hits as McDonald's - feeding as many people as quickly and profitably as possible. The burgers might be passable, but no one's gonna consider it gourmet. If you want something gourmet, you're gonna have to go looking. :)

 Nice.

Another similarity is that MTV makes you want to take a dump.

i think that music just seems to be getting worse, when i though it already couldnt get any worse! i miss the late 80s to mid 90s musiccccccccc.

to me it seems like downloads and marketing have a lot to do with it. first, they need young and great-looking artists or else they think they wont be marketable. and because of downloads they are looking for hit songs not hit albums. i kinda notice all these artists with one or two songs then they fade. they might not even have an album that charts that high but its the song that is selling and getting played. besides a few artists like rihanna and chris brown it seems like the only people that are actually selling albums are artists who have had careers in the 90s or earlier like mariah, beyonce, justin, madonna. yeah they are older and have larger fan bases but it seems hard to break into the industry other than just having a hit song. you know what i mean???

Oh man, I couldn't agree more... ..|

For me the extremes of music have got too complacent. Rock is now not what I call rock, its just an influx of emo/indie, pop is RnB light, and Rnb and Hip Hop are soulless commercials for either the 'artist's clothing line or their plastic surgeon.

I agree to a point. I don't think the artists should be called pieces of trash, but just bad musicians/rappers/vocalists/etc.

There is honestly no such thing as a bad band, there are talented ones, overpowering ones, unpopular ones, uninspired ones, unlucky ones, and undiscovered ones. There may be more types, but my mind is blanking at the moment.

The majority of the "bad music" out there is uninspired. 50 Cent for example is uninspired, although he has had good songs(don't know any offhand). He sticks to what he knows, because he can't get outside of the box, or the industry isn't letting him.

Then there are the overpowering bands, which would be the bands that play loudly, scream alot, and hope no one can tell that they have no actual message other then 'rebel'/'mosh'/'fight against conformity' etc. w/e it is, they play it hard, they play it strong, and they play it how they know best.

As a whole, the majority of the music industry has a vast majority of talented bands, but the problem is they are a mixture of good and bad.

On that note, I'd like to say that I'm not a music critic, nor am I an expert in any way, I just say things as I see them.

I have not listened to any terrestrial radio stations or watch MTV for the last 4 years. They both play total shit music on heavy rotation. So I agree with you about certain people getting music deals. If you actually read any of the top 10 albums by music critics and their consensus each year, you will not find 99% of the music played on MTV on their list.

All I can say is thank god for satellite radio.
