What are your plans for Australia Day?

We're having friends over in the afternoon for drinky-poos and nibblies, then we're having a good ol' Aussie barbie tea followed by trifle and pavlova for sweets. We'll also be able to watch the fireworks from our balcony at 9.00pm (by which stage we all expect to be thoroughly sloshed! ).

And of course everyone has to dress up in something Aussie themed.

australia day eve i'm getting dragged along to the down under party at arq in sydney. i have a very love/hate relationship with that place so fingers crossed it is good.

on the actual day i WAS going to be working but i'm not anymore so i'll just have to see what happens.

Yes my dear friend it does but it also is the anniversary date for the Rum Rebellion of 1808. I haven't checked it out further yet but since my faux pas with the aborigines a bit of time back I try to be more cautious...whatever, have a great holiday and please keep in touch.

btw, in case you haven't figured it out yet I am interested in the AUS/NZ cultures traditions and histories..don't know why, just am.

This year Australia Day falls on a Tuesday, so I could definitely pay some attention to it in class. Don't know how much... we're on a very tight schedule.

A few salads, plenty of white wine and beer, temps in the low to mid 30's and good friends. What more could you ask for in the land that's girt by sea?

Great win tonight Aussies, the Vics won the 20/20 Big Bash on Saturday night, so all is well with the world.
Will even be better next week when the NAB Cup (AFL) starts, Ozguy WCE stars in the opening game. Demetriou stuffed something else up!!
