will he stop singing about girls and be brave enough to sing about guys?

I would love to hear that. If the songs were good I'd even support him.

His voice is fire. :)

His latest album didn't sell as much because of the way everyone was bashing him. I'm a fan and I hate how everyone has been so nasty to him. The songs are fantastic and very relateable to me. The Real Me is about wanting to come out and stop the charade.

None of the songs are about girls. Its really deeply personal and not all ballads like people say. The song he wrote called Lover All Alone is about realizing that he's gay and will never have the stereotypical American dream that he thought was expected of him. It is so sad and so real it makes me cry.

The album is about accepting himself and coming out.

He is probably the most under rated singer and the habit of hating on him should really stop.

feistfan, I think Matt Damon is ugly. To each his own.

I doubt Clay will be singing about guys. I mean in his mind he might be but the lyrics will probably continue to say "girl" and "her" unless he just drops those nouns altogether and just sticks to "you" and "baby." I don't think he's bold enough to sing "I love him."

I don't think anyone has been bold enough to do that before and it isn't exactly fair to expect him to be the trail blazer.

No, it's not. But given how his singing career (I mean CDs, not his musical career) has stalled out, he doesn't have anything to lose. I think some fun and playful gay music might be a good fit for him.

The stuff from 6 years ago on AI is good but the recent stuff is way better. Look at this video that somebody took last month.

I must be a freak because I don't get why those fat old diva women like Bette Middler appeal to a gay audience. Not Madonna either. I'd rather listen to Elton and George. What is wrong with me?

Wait, he still has a career?:D

Hell yeah! Yesterday he was at a Gala to support poor kids that Rosie hosted.

Today he was on the Today Show collecting Toys for Tots.

Tomorrow he is on Rosie's new variety show.

Thursday he is on CBS as a guest host covering the Macy's Parade in NYC.

All of that while he stars as Sir Robin 8 times a week on Broadway in Spamalot.

He is the most successful male from American Idol and has sold over 7 million of his 5 CDs.

Can you tell I'm a fan? !oops!

C'mon guys, even tho the guy is not a pretty sight, I do think he was immensely brave to even come out (given the characteristics of his fanbase- those ¨claymates¨sure look like they could fit in a Palin political meeting or with Phelps people).

I think we (gays) should support those who show his courage, or at least respect them

It's true because he knew he would lose most of his fans and he did. The younger fans and guys like me are still here but he did it knowing what would happen and he still came out.

marley, the man is good but he ain't Jesus. He just came out 2 months ago and you're already nailing him to your cross.

I thought we were supposed to be challenging society, not conforming to it.

When WE put OUR careers on the line then WE can demand that others do the same but until then WE should be grateful for what others (with as much or more to lose than US) are willing to sacrifice.

He lost the majority of his fans by coming out. His last CD didn't sell as well as it should have. When will it be enough? Does he have to lose everything before you are satisfied?

WTF are you talking about? If he "lost them" by coming out, then they weren't really fans. And do you really think it satisfies me to see his career fail? First of all, his star was falling BEFORE he came out. The thing I don't understand is that when I was growing up, we were praised for being honest and individualistic, now it's the opposite we're defending people who are dishonest and conformist.

I'm done. Let's try again in a few years when you've grown out of this phase.

^^Says the man who isn't out to his family.

Or has that changed?

Can we dig up the old threads where someone asked if he was gay and a bunch of guys on here fought it? and fought hard AGAINST it, lol. People fought hard on here about Wentworh MIller being straight. I know he's not out but gay guys on here really fight for these guys to be STRAIGHT. That is the biggest thing I will never understand on JUB. They don't even want to entertain the idea like it's the most disgusting thing that could be said about a celeb. And these guys on here are gay! That is my Whoopie WHAT THE HELL?! moment, lol. That was for all u View fans out there.

this thread really had me hyped for one of those elongated and fun threads, but it failed : (
i thought it would be one of those threads, like: so now that clay has come out...
OP: the world can now spin again
1st: all the gays of the world will unite and take a bow

and so on ramble over

Clay's out but he's still the unsexiest gremlin I've ever seen. Yech. If I were a gay guy, I wouldn't touch him unless he was wearing a Matt Damon mask.

Ouch! LOL

I'd have to agree. Clay's career seems to have run its course.

Clay has gotten the memo that singing isn't the only option for him. It's great that he's doing acting, because all Idol alumni will have a problem with longevity in their careers. The show is much too big for it's own shoes now, that it overshadows the talent it produces.
