But that isn't the story.

The story is that 20 minutes later (and we don't have Alexa), the ads for a new ice cream scoop came up on our feeds. And we only have the one laptop in the kitchen.

I Scream. You scream. We all scream because fucking ice scream scoops are in our ad feeds.

There have even ads pop up for shit that I am only thinking about.

Is this all just a simulation?

I bought a box of Entemann’s apple pies a couple weeks ago at Target. When I got home I had adds for entemanns apple pies on my Instagram page.

I paid cash, and never mentioned the product so I don’t know where the ads came from.

Me and my husband laugh about it all the time now.

We don't use Alexa either but whatever we are talking about shows up up in ads. I think am certain our devices listen to us.

For example - I am having to deal with a toxic narcissist at the moment in business and I am trying to figure out HOW to go about it (It isn't easy). I talk about it with my husband and guess what? I get "help" from my emails and memes on FB about it LOL (but some of them are actually helpful I must admit:mrgreen:)

Seriously...are we in some kind of mind trap? We know we are the Universe made conscious.

But what the fuck Universe?

Was it always about the deals on Amazon?

My theory - there is a huge market and alot of $$$$$ for understanding and appealing to the consumer to sell us shit and tech figured out how to harness it and sell it by listening to us.

Purchased a retro black and white dress shirt I liked many months ago from Shein online clothing. Can you say CHINA?

Anyhoo that damn shirt AD pops up everywhere I go. I have AD blocker but it's not blocking that one. I might burn the house down and flee soon.

I told you not to get a covid shot.

I got an alert just last week saying to cover your web cams and turn off your microphone because if you have any app at all from Google or Facebook, unless you know how to root things out of your computer and block them from returning those two evil giants are watching and listening to everything your computer "sees" and "hears". They don't bother to ask permission, they just ride in on the app and set up their spy shop.

I did a search (duckduckgo) for "blocking google and facebook from spying on you"; there are lots of articles covering all situations. AdBlock Plus is highly recommended by many of them.

BTW I now regret making a donation to a Senate candidate: since then I have been mysteriously signed up for eight different advocacy groups and am seeing ads aimed at issues he supports. I'm getting tired of unsubscribing from groups I've never heard of.

You know they're listening to us everywhere we go, except instead of using this technology to make us safer they use it to figure out what they can sell us.

Facial recognition technology. It was Target, not Walmart

Still waiting to be fed with juicy gingers, reds and blonds, and stop being tantalized with their presence past mine.

This happens to me too. I´ve been wondering if it´s just coincidences or based on some kind of subliminal advertising based on Big Data.

On the other hand, I get so much completely inappropriate advertising one would almost expect they´re doing it on purpose.

There are ways of knowing or figuring out what you bought. Facial recognition (something I think you said above) is one thing. I've heard this is something used by some stores.

Also if you had a standard smart phone with you then it would be possible to see that you spent time by those pies. The location can be pinpointed down to a matter of a few feet. And obviously it can track you. If your location is constantly changing through the store--then suddenly pauses--they will know that you quite possibly paused to look at something or pick something up. Obviously, this isn't perfect--you might freeze a minute by the pie display because you saw someone in the cross aisle you don't want to see (ex-boyfriend, crazy neighbor, me203, etc) and decide to wait until they are gone.
