McCain thinks Hillary supporters are stupid. Hopefully, they prove him wrong.

McCain and Palin frighten me.

the thought of her possibly being a heart beat away from the presidency is truly frightening. i mean talk about no experience and being untrained in the workings of Washington - this selection is probably the worst i have ever seen since cheney was selected.:grrr::grrr:

6 things the Palin pick says about McCain

Jim VandeHei, John F. Harris

The selection of a running mate is among the most consequential, most defining decisions a presidential nominee can make. John McCain’s pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says a lot about his decison-making — and some of it is downright breathtaking.

Exactly, eM! At first glance, I thought it was a brilliant move for McCain, given the hostility of some of Hillary's supporters toward Obama. But upon further examination of Palin's "experience," and given the nature of the investigation currently being conducted into her alleged abuse of power, it looks like an incredibly stupid choice, made for only two reasons--to capture the votes of the disaffected Hillary supporters and to reassure the thuggish right-wing element of the Republican party that McCain is still in their pocket.

She's a pretty lady and probably very smart; but this is not her time. I'd rather see the "real" Karen Walker as VP than this sad, sober imitation, uptight imitation.

What do I think of "Miss Congeniality" being one heart-beat away from the Presidency?
Make that a 72 year-old, 3 time cancer survivor's heart-beat?

Is this a trick question?

She is the LEAST Qualified of our 50 Governors, and is also LESS Qualified than ALL 100 Senators and ALL 435 Members of the House of Representatives...
She is SO Un-Qualified that she makes Dan Quayle look like Thomas Jefferson by comparison.
I'm certain that quite a few JUB members have better Real World qualifications to be next in line for the Presidency than this complete non-entity...

Is John McBush SO out of touch with reality that he thinks he will somehow "Capture" the Women's Vote by nominating this Gun-totin', Moose-eatin', Bible-thumpin', Queer-hatin', Abortion-bannin', Big Oil-lovin', ANWaR-drillin', Climate Change-denyin', former Beauty Pageant contestant turned Small-Town mayor?

It's a great day to be a Democrat...

I think that it is a scarry thing, especially with McCain having one foot in the ground already. There is a good chance that she would end up as the President if McCain wins.

Evangelists who said that they would not vote because McCain is too liberal for them are now going to vote in droves because of his VP pick. She is the wet dream candidate for evangelicals. And the media is going to eat up her life story which will appeal to many women voters.

Obama must win! McCain's choice for VP makes it even more critical that Obama wins.

McCain and Palin.. pfft

McCain and Rice would have been a double-banger winning combination that Obama/whatshisname would have had no chance of beating.

Both Obama and McCain dropped the ball on this one.

God Save America, cause neither of those two sets of options will.

Obama and Biden will definitely have this country in better shape than it has been.

I think it's a screwball choice but then, we're talking about "Mr. Maverick". I think she'd get my vote in a heartbeat if the only criteria were how hot she is.

I think it's a cheap shot by McCain. Obama passed over Hillary and pissed off the Hillary supporters so McCain picks a woman. Pathetic. But it just might work because this is the country that elected GWB (and Dick cheney by proxy) not once, but twice.

I think she's a freak. She likes guns. How many chicks really dig guns?

I think she's a reptile under that cute exterior. Of course, that's a prerequisite for a Repuglycan. I think she wouldn't be quite as bad as Cheney but close enough.

I think I don't trust any female with five kids when it comes to my right to jack off to porn.

I think that American flag lapel pin is really annoying (even on Obama). That's not because I hate America. It's because it takes more than a cheap token gesture of patriotism to move me.

I think McCain will probably win but I seriously hope he loses.

I think Obama will need to grow a pair to take on McCain in a debate. I think Biden will do OK but this ticket would probably be better if Biden was the presidential nominee and Obama was for VP. Obama is going to have a real tough time with the "experience" thing.

Biden is a butt ugly man and Palin is a gorgeous female. She will steal any stage she shares with Biden just by virtue of being female. Biden will have to work much harder to get his points across and even if he can do that, horny men are not exactly the best listeners.

I think Obama is boring. The only thing he has going for him is the fact that makes great speeches and he would be the first black president. And I'm a Democrat. I will vote for him. But I'm also a realist and he's going to need more than that. He needs real fire and some semblance of emotion. He needs to be MLK. Being black isn't good enough. Being black and being a good speaker isn't enough. He needs conviction and passion.

McCain will tell his sad POW story and will probably talk about 9/11. He'll do the "war hero" thing. He'll call Obama a pussy who wants to surrender. What will Obama do? I hope he shoves it back up McCain's ass but I'm not sure he has the instinct and the drive to do it.

And all the while, I think Palin will be distracting all those horny men......and possibly some of the Hillary voters.

I'm sorry but you sound ridiculous.

I think it's a very bold, calculated move.

I sincerely hope and pray it causes him to LOSE. But, who knows what will happen. I now truly understand why other countries look down on us. Look at what we have elected. An idiot in the White House, his oil buddies getting rich, including his oh-so beloved VP.

Now we have McCain, who honestly a few years back I didn't think was half bad - competely given in the the radical-nut cases who run the Republican party. He picks someone who is seen as the anti-Washington insider, who will appeal to the gun-toting, pro-life wackos.

Regardless of what the polls say now, I think Obama is a long-shot.
I hope that he can pull it out, because we do not need McCain and HER in power.

I think he secured himself the presidency.

I agree.

If she were as bad a pick as so many JUB-bers are saying, they wouldn't be going on, and on, and on, about it....

There's complete panic in the Obama camp, and his party, 'cuz they know they're losing.

^Well, if that's what you really think of the electorate, shouldn't you and those in your party start to find a way to win them over?

Or is it really better for all of you to just whine about the situation?

^ Well, maybe you can start by noticing that Palin has advocated a constitutional ban on providing healthcare benefits to same-sex partners.

Obama has a long pro-gay record (a 98% rating from the Human Rights Campaign), has repeatedly reached out to gay voters and has a list of pro-gay goals:

McCain has a long anti-gay record (a 33% rating from the HRC), has repeatedly rejected gay voters and has a list of anti-gay goals. For example:

- He opposed gay civil unions in supporting the failed anti-gay marriage voter initiative in Arizona, which would also have banned gay civil unions.

- He supports the current anti-gay marriage voter initiative in California (which Obama opposes)

- McCain opposed extending anti-discrimination legislation to include discrimination against gays

- He opposes abolishing repealing the Defense of Marriage Act

- He opposes repealing don't-ask-don't-tell

- He opposes adoptions by gay couples

- He's reopened the door, in his discussions with the far right religious leaders, to the anti-gay marriage Constitutional Amendment at the federal level

- McCain's also promised to appoint judges to the Supreme Court in the mold of Roberts, Alito, Scalia and Thomas who don't read the Constitution as protecting individual privacy, which is code for being anti-choice and anti-gay. A Supreme Court with a majority of those judges would not have decriminalized gay sex and will want to overturn that decision

McCain and Palin and the gays and voters, who vote for them will, in effect, be supporting all those anti-gay goals.

Good reasons not to think that much of Palin or McCain.

I think she is a cynical, calculated choice. It has nothing to do with a concern for America's leadership. The chances are higher that McCain will have cancer again before he would leave office, so we will be stuck with Miss Congeniality for president? Where in the hell did we come to this that we would go from Darth Vader to a beauty queen?

It is disgusting and frightening on so many levels.

She was only selected to try to lure away the female Hillary supporters from Obama (also, he has a trophy wife, why not have a trophy vice president as well?). If Obama would have picked Hillary, McCain would likely have chosen a male vp, and come up with some kind of attack ad like "Forget big brother, now you have big mother" or some crap.
From what I can see by McCain's decision, there seems to be a lot of insulted female voters out there.
