  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

So...Share Your BIG Plans for 'SuperBowl Sunday' !!!!

I am having a couple of friends over to the house. We will start by watching our Montreal Canadiens play the Pittsburgh Penguins in the afternoon, and then watch the Super Bowl at night.

My picks? Canadiens 4-2 in hockey, Colts 27-17 in football :)

I have alottt of straight friends, a good 30% of which were football players, and I have the biggest TV of the lot of us.

So, I'm guessing I will be forced to watch a sport I hate.

Fortunately, last weekend was my birthday, and I have more Tequila left over then I know what to do with.

GO TEQUILA!!!!

It's supposed to be super frigid outside this weekend, so I will be home, with some snacks on the coffee table, on my couch with Dave, cuddled up under the afghan my Sicilian grandmother made for me, watching the game.:D

I ate at a place called the China Bowl on a sunday once... not sure I have ever tried the Superbowl though...

Do they have good food there?

It has to do with fresh fruit, big salads, and gay bears...possibly even chinese fast food.

Now that sounds fun!:gogirl:

On word...

MARGARITAS!!!

Is that this weekend? My plans are to totally ignore it. I hate organized violence.

No...no...no...It has to do with fresh fruit, big salads, and gay bears...possibly even chinese fast food.

Oh dear.

I'm more confused than ever.

Plus, I just got word that my beloved Stevie Nicks has been foolish enough
to agree to perform in the the pre-show. (there's a 'pre-show' )

Stevie, Stevie, Stevie.... My spinning, lace-draped diva, can't you see this is going to be a disaster ?

(Nothing drunk football fans love more than Stevie Nicks  )

Oy. #-o

Oh... this... this is going to be gooooood....

:gogirl:

Well, the 500 wings are on order as are the 8 pizzas. I'll be picking the kegs up on Saturday.

And somehow I have to figure a way of getting my 57" tv out of my bedroom and downstairs as my bedroom will not accommodate 40 people.

GO BEARS!

Oh Liam. When will you realize that all Chicago sports teams are destined to never win?

(OK, 2005 with the White Sox is an exception, and nobody cares about basketball LoL)

Just kidding. I am actually rooting for the Colts. Why? Because they aren't the Bears.

You can slap me now. ;)

Well, I'm still sort of confused with Prince being the half time show.

Don't get me wrong! I love Prince and have been a fan since the early 80's (I just dated myself I think)... He's just not the first person I would have thought of for the half time show.

I wonder if he's going to wear assless pants or something. Or maybe those red jockey's and the dark trench coat from his Controversy days. ;)

Oh yeah... Go Colts!

I wonder if he's going to wear assless pants or something.

Maybe he could have the football helmets of the opposing teams
stenciled on each ass cheek.

Then, in a thrilling climax, could spin around and clench his cheeks together,
symbolizing the eternal struggle of competitive sports. :D

(hmm...what's in this water ?)

I rarely ever watch sports anymore. I don't even know what teams are playing. I've despised football since....well, forever. All it does is remind me of gym class in high school. I do enjoy taking in an occassional baseball game, but that's about it.

Isn't this the yearly TV event where a 30 second advertising spot costs mega$$$?
and some people watch the whole thing just for the commercials. just another reason the rest of the world thinks Americans are looney.

:-)

If one of the movies i want to see is still playing then i shall probably venture over to the local cinema art house. I have already missed The History Boys, boy did they ever do a lousy ad campaign on that film - it came and went so fast, it is unbelievable.

I shall be looking for The Painted Vail.

If that is not available, i have saved on my satellite box about 20 of some of the finest cinema available - even going back as far as 1945 with Brief Encounter and into the 50's with 3 brilliant Italian films leading up to and including the last few years.

Before Night Falls
Hamlet = Sir Laurence Olivier
I Vitelloni
Hillary and Jackie
A Separate Peace
A Passage to India
Travels With My Aunt - Dame Maggie Smith
The Razor's Edge - original version
Umberto D
Dick Cavett interview with Bette Davis and Kathrine Hepburn
Fanny and Alexander - the full version
Brokeback Mountain - i still have not watched it.
The Winslow Boy - new version
Edward II
Cinema Paradiso
The Front
The Remains of the Day
Howards End
Goodbye Mr Chips
The Grass Harp
Mr and Mrs. Bridge
The Red Shoes
Mrs. Dalloway - Dame Vanessa Redgrave

The complete Huff Series

Of all the films listed only about 5 have not been seen before - the rest have, and multiple times.

So that should take care of all those boring hours related to one of the most boring events we have ever created.

Oh the price of the commercials that someone was interested in knowing - $2.6 million per minute i believe is the going price. Coca Cola has bought 10 minutes.

eM.:(

My plans sure don't include football. Everyone on my floor at university is in love with sports. I don't get it. It's like watching paint dry for me.

I know, I know. But a boy can dream, right??
But yeah, the Sox was a fluke!
