they nailed most of 'em...but i still think Christina Chambers is underrated. the Babe(AMC) and Alison(ATWT) IMO are the worst recasts. the Zoe storyline on AMC was more disturbingly bland than daring i think. that should've went to the whole Vincent thing on Passions. sure the story was more than a little on the ridiculous side but i can't believe some of the shit they get away with on daytime tv

That said, IMO, "Best new character" should go to either GH's Spinelli, or OLTL's Jared Banks. As for worst recast, I'm with Willsboy84: the new "Babe" onAMC just isn't cutting it. I actually like Christina Chambers as Marty on OLTL.

lol...i think we're the only 2 who've had anything even remotely positive to say about Christina Chambers. at first I was a little thrown off by her, but she quickly grew on me. now i can't even really see Susan Haskell taking the role back...even though that's the rumor. you're right about Jared Banks...definately one of the best new characters i've seen in awhile...and not just cuz he's hot as all hell.

Leann Hunley returned to Days? Wow. Her Anna was so great with Calliope back in the day!

Unfortunately, the continual returns of Stefano was one of the reasons I stopped watching the show--you know, aside from the preposterous Marlena possessed thing.

And how was John's "death" a tearjerker? What did they do?

that's actually about the time i started watching. don't get me wrong--i LOVED Susan's Marty!!! i just don't think Christina Chamber's is the anti-christ like alot of peeps seem to. it's the same with all the Carly's GH has went through. at first i refused to accept anyone but Sarah Brown in that role but Tamara Braun won me over. Jennifer Branson--yeah i could've done without. Now Laura Wright has pretty much made that role her own and i couldn't see Sarah coming back to it.

I haven't been watching soaps religiously for that long--it's only been about 5 or 6 years. I don't have the attachment to Susan Haskell's character as others might. That's why I don't have a problem with Chambers in the role. Now that I have gotten into the storylines, and am familiar with the characters of the various soaps, I am somewhat skeptical about recasts. I almost gave up on GH when they replaced Tamara Braun with Jennifer Branson. It wasn't until Laura Wright took over the role that I fell in love with Carly again. Usually I go with the flow of character recasts, and hope that I'm not disappointed.

Poor Christina Chambers....she's gotta stop doing recasted roles. When Lesli Kay got the role of Lois on GH, her role of Molly had to be filled quickly. In stepped Christina....she was just horrible. Well, not horrible, but Lesli OWNED the role of Molly McKinnon. Let Christina get a fresh role, where she won't be compared to someone else.

I completely agree with that.

BUT on the other hand, I believe re-casts are absolutely essential in daytime TV. And I believe that if Chambers wants to tackle her third recast in a row that it should be in the role of .... (don't throw tomatoes at me here!) ....

Maria Santos Grey on "All My Children." Didn't Chambers play a character named Maria on "Sunset Beach" in the 1990's? I don't know since I don't do NBC soaps.

But I really think Chambers could be a great Maria and there is a huge rumour going around that AMC is bringing back most of the Santos family.

i think one of the worst recasts in HISTORY was with the Connor Walsh(?) character on ATWT. i can't remember either of the actresses names, but after one left they brought over the woman who OLTL fans had grown to love as Luna Moody. i loved Luna, and the actress who played her, but her run as Connor was one of the most awkward experiences EVER. i did feel bad about the overreactions of alot of ATWT viewers though--the constant hate-mail, and personal attacks on both the show and the actress(damn it WHAT was her name?!), it was taken waaaay too far

willsboy, that was Allyson Rice Taylor as the original Connor, and she was perfect for the role. Susan Batten was just wrong for the role, and , boy, did the fans let her know it!
