SoCal meet is there any intrest?

Ok, so we have confirmed that it will be October 1st.

The next questions are:
1 what time should we meet up?

Well, parking lot? It's a Big one---or where??
I'll try to be there EARLY.
It'll be Sunday. Gate opens at 10am.
I'll try to get there at 9-ish; so I can greet JUBbers.

but where on the lot, it's big, maybe we should try like meeting at the actual gate

When the zoo first opens, its kind of a zoo. There is normally a long line of people to get in. It might be easier if we ask people to meet up a little after it opens, after the entrance slows down from the opening. What do you guys think would be better?

It would be nice if we could easily pick the JUB members out of the crowd. We could ask people to wear a certain color shirt or have people hold a piece of paper with a design of a JUB graphic that can easily be printed out.

This is a nice idea. I won't be able to attend that day, as I have a memorial I have to attend. But, I hope there is a good turn-out and a good time had by all.

:-)

Just make sure to include a link to this thread so that people can find out the details. We need to let as many people in the LA area know about this as possible. Thanks.

Well, damn, I just got my schedule and I'm stuck working that weekend. Hope you all have a good time though.

I will be there around 1:30pm.

dkofrost plans on doing the same.

Is there a way for us to exchange contact information so that when we are at the zoo, we can call the group to find out where you are in the zoo? I don't want to put my phone number on a message board.

Yeah, best not to put your number on a board. It is a big zoo. I was just looking at the map to see if I could make a recommemdation. I've only been there once years ago, so I'm not exactly sure even with the map.

If we can arrive at a location and a time, then I'll plan to be there. Everyone knows what I look like so maybe you can just look for me in the designated area?

We should start an attendee list to see how many are coming. I have plans that day but will cancle them if we have at least 3 others who are going to show. So who is in?

Shall we assign a designated t-shirt color?
Flamingo Pink?
(If you think otherwise, SPEAK NOW). Everyone wouldn't HAVE to wear it, just enough so that we clump together somewhat. I hope to get a JUB t-shirt but I don't want to pay for FedEx.
Be thinking, people, about other places in the LA/SoCal region for in the future. I hope we can have at least one BIG meet-up annually or bi-annually.
This Sunday is going to be fun.
(I'm going to try to be there EARLY.)
The following is a matter that I hope more knowledgable Losangelenos will critique:
Shouldn't we park somewhat away from the Zoo-entrance? That way we have a space for group announcements; we have a few minutes walking together as a group instead of animal-gazing; it might be more convenient for purposes of getting away, especially if we leave as a group or in small groups.

I feel kind of bad that you would cancel your plans. We have more than 3 people going but I don't know about you canceling your plans.

I don't have anything pink. Maybe we can hold up a justusboys sign. hmmm. I think that the easiest thing to do would be to meet either in front of the gates at a particular time or in front of the flamingos (which is near the front of the park). I could design a quick graphic that we could print out. As for the time, being a Sunday, I think that a lot of people like to sleep in, especially considering many people stay out late on Saturday evenings. Because of this, I don't think that we should make the time too early. dkonfrost and I will be there around 1:30pm. We can meet around that time or after.

There is also the possiblity that we might be able to go out to dinner afterwards in that area. If Seth does decide to come, maybe we should send Private Messages to Seth with our cell phone numbers.

OK I won't be an extremist on being early. Noonish.
Pink T-shirt. Bulging muscles. ;)

ok...hmmm...what about if we tell people who come around 12 to meet at the front gate and people who arrive at 1:30 to meet at the flamingos, which are a little past the zoo stores as you walk in? Do you think that might work?
